Hello everybody, I am working on this project for my own satisfaction, and would love to get any crit and any reference material that you think would help in the pose of my character. I am currently having troubles with the anatomy of his legs and the fore-shortening. The basic idea of this picture is: This tired, beaten, and sweaty boxer is sitting in his corner after round 11 just desperatly holding on long enough to finish round 12! When I get my Wacom I will hopefully color this up when I finally get it done in pencil and sized up afterwards. So any crit and help will be really helpful. Thanks.:) http://img5.photobucket.com/albums/v14/Snowball/Art/Project/Project1.jpg

Has some sense of realism, the belly button area looks pretty real, fat sweaty beaten up. But take another look at boxing gloves. Understand how they are shaped around the hands. Also try to set up a general scetch and then slowly but surealy add in more and more detail on a global level.

Hello, thanks for the reply. Ya I totally agree with you about the boxing gloves. I just threw some ovals around the hands just to get a quick idea. I am planning on using reference material to help me with the certain important parts like that. Thanks again.

Here is an update on the boxing gloves. Let me know what you all think. As well, any tips on Fore-shortening or anatomy in general that would help me with the rest of him would be greatly appreciated.

Another quick update, I just quickly tried putting some legs on this poor fellow. I know they are off but I am just still hoping for some help. I need to know if I am heading in the right direction or am I totally off with the anatomy?!

While I was staying at my friends house I had a few people sit in front of me and I tried understanding where I should head to with the legs, I think I have gotten better, but I am begining to think I should ditch the whole pose and find a good pose and go exactly off it, because I am feeling like this guy isn't going to look natural. He is going to look stiff and unrealistic because I am working on part by part instead of 1 overall pose first! I will post this update just incase somebody thinks I should continue with this.

Well after a long trial of testing legs I have come to a pair that is still just not sufficient, becuase I believe it lacks the weight and tiresome look of a leg that would be thrown down after a round of boxing. SO I still need feedback and any help from those anatomy pros out there. I have tried a reference for these legs but I still think they are inadequate. Please C&C would be great!

I do agree with your consideration.
I know it could be difficult to restart a drawing when you've spent a lot of time on it,but you will probably spent more without any result if you don't do it.
the basic pose of the subject and his placement into a rectangle (that you have to choose and draw on your page) are the first thing to think of. Once the base is done you are free to think about anatomy and details an then they will sound in the right place.
Try starting with a little thumbnail to decide your pose, then copy it into a bigger frame using only simple cylinders and spheres and then go for details.
Hope it could be useful although my bad english. And thank you for visiting my sketchbook!
