I've finally managed to upload something on this site. ... Now lets see if I'll continue to remember to upload on this site.

He's still a bit rough around the edges with the colouring and all, but I just gotta ahold of Painter 11 so I should be able to fix this up abit.
The Second image of the Panda is me redoing the colouring in Painter. I wasn't pleased with the results I was getting in Photoshop and so to save time grabbed the lineart and moved it over. I'm covering more ground in Painter faster than I was with Photoshop. It's awsome.

Well, it's hard to judge when your first upload is a panda... but are you very aware of color theory? Stuff like:
- Don't always just shade with a darker version of the local color. Consider what other colored light might be falling into that shadow. White fur tends to pick up all sorts of colors from the surrounding environment.
- As colors fall into shadow, they don't just darken, they desaturate. Again, hard to tell with the panda...
- Gold still reflects other colors; we should be seeing at least a bit of white and black reflected in those rings.
- The lit cigarette should be projecting at least a tinge of red light onto that immaculate fur, don't you think? In fact, the lit cigarette here presents all sorts of opportunities to play with secondary light sources. Take advantage of it!
Lovely light modeling on the panda's face, all that aside. You understand the movement of light, for sure, but it would be great if the color of that light was less static.

Thanks so much for the advise. =] I really haven't learned all the much on colour theory and am slowly working on teaching it to myself. I'll remember this when I re-open the file in a day or so.

A fun little Character of mine. I'm still getting used to have characters that walk around on the true foot and all. This drawing it's is actually the third attempt. The other two are just way too shameful to show at this point.

Voo once again. About a week ago I remember that I did a Christmas pic last year and feel that I should at least do another one this year. This is just a small part of the overall piece that I am currently working on. ... I just realized I forgot the stitch work on his cheeks and inner leg. Gonna go fix that now.

Colours on the Wolf as pretty much not getting touched again for a while, unless I decide to drag it into Painter like I have my Panda. I've just started with the BG. Not planning to look at that again til Wed morning.

Some time ago, I remeber someone on this site teaching other artists colour theory I think. Can't remember. Anyways I remember that it was this image of an apple that they wanted everyone to give a shot at and started it months ago. I got rid of the first file of this and tempted my hand at it for a second time and this is how it is going so far.

Still really rough and still needs the woodland creatures that I plan on cramming in there but this is kinda what I have so far. The background has been sent off to my teacher for revisions, if I don't hear from him by tomorrow night I'll send it again. Til then, I'm gonna be drawing some goats.

My girlfriend told me of an old folklore that her mother used to tell her as a kid. It was about a wolf and some goats. (orginally I was told 3, but then it jumped to 12 ... I'm only gonna do 3 designs.) I've been playing around with some designs for the characters cause I want to do a comic of it. (sadly she couldn't find me the story so I have the fun of coming up with my own)
These doodles contain very little study of the animals anatomy for both the goats and the wolf. The next batch of sketches down the road will look muck better =]

I don't want to look at him anymore. My hand is completely cramped because of him. But I love how this came out. For now.

I was really hoping to see a cool/muted colorscheme with the cigarette glow making the character foreground pop, especially on the great sketch of values from before.
You could quickly apply a couple tweaks over it in photoshop (just a layer over the background to desaturate, then duplicate it to change the hue...) to see how it looks once the oh-god-get-this-off-my-screen effect subsides.
The cigarette doesn't look like it's glowing, more like it's wet. image ref that up.
the critique of the gold bits still applies -- they should probably dip more into the darker values as well, I'd just start over painting them in values alone and then glazing the actual color on
the tribal-leaned smoke is pretty damn clever!
post the finished apple study!

For my portfolio to get me into animation I have to have is one pig do three different sport related things while keeping him on model. The concepts for these were done last year while I was in Pre-animation. I must say, I was the only one that did bull riding and surfing and I'm proud of that. Im also proud of the lvl of interaction mainly in the Bull Riding one but the Surfing one amused me too. The Ribbon Dancing one was only done cause I couldn't think of any other fun interactive sport that would allow me to draw something other than the Pig.

These are from last year. Sadly besides a few hands and feet I haven't done any life drawing since school ended last april. MUST FIX THAT ... for a fear I might get rusty. I at least have some skulls on Harddrive to do. =]

As of yesterday until whenever I get the urge to remove my hand with a butcher knife I will draw several hands in pen. Why? because my hand drawing skills leave much to be desired. here is the first batch.

The class was on shading so I did my best to try to capture his features with all the lights of with the exception of the projector that shone on him.
