Well, I have to admit I'm not at the same level the rest of the people who are here; but anyway I just felt like putting here my sketchbook.

Some info about me: Name's Zenit Yerkes, a 15 year old artist wannabe who has been around 11 months drawing; since the 11th of January. I have no patience for anything, that's why I don't spent much time in sketching something (around 10 mins).

Some ballpoint practice using Reilly's Quick Head Sketch Method.

I'm trying to update this daily and post something interesting everyday, so if you have any suggestions or comments feel free to make them.

cool! Seeing as youre onely 15. you shouldent wory about not having the patience to draw. it comes with age. or atleast it did with me :P

get some anatomy books. and draw from life. thats the best advice i can give you ;)

Your 15? Your off on a good start, keep practicing and do some anatomy studies, your young so you should pick it up fairly fast.

My only suggestion is maybe to resize the pictures smaller, im using a 24inch widescreen monitor and they are pretty large for me.

just try to concentrate on longer studies, learn perspective, standard proportions, shading volumes, drawing tons of squares in space ect

Your pen figure drawings have a great sense of movement, try not to loose that.

Yup perspective and standard proportions should be on your list of things to get down. It will be tedious but very rewarding.

Currently having issues related to typical beginner drama:

- Don't know what to do to fix anything or how to study anything
- The "oh shit this guy is awesome and I am poo" syndrome

@DstraX: Thanks, I am looking for some good art books at the moment to make some kind of serious study.

@TopSecret: From now on they'll be on 800px or less; but the first pics won't be resized: the originals are in PNG and then changing their format to GIF, resizing and doing all the attachment managing will take me a lot of time.

@Zazers: Nope, I don't animate but got I'm used to the action line since I began to draw.

@laxon: As said, it's easy to say "Yeah so study and make some anatomy practice and you'll go fine". I'm struggling with finding a method to build up the figure currently, and when accomplished I'll do some serious study with perspective, proportion and anatomy.

If I were talented I'd post something mid-decent. Those are only rough sketches and I am not able to do anything else due to the lack of patience.

I wished I could get into detail or stay like two days with the same drawing, I simply can't.

Force yourself to, at this point it doesn't matter how long it takes you to finish something, just learn how to slow down. You can worry about speeding up your process later when you actually learn the basics.

I wasn't being in a "Yes yes of course blah blah blah not gonna do it" mood. I DO know I need to slow down and make this arse stay in its place for some time. And I AM gonna do it, but it'd take its time.

Anatomy studies, this time playing with the muscles. I did them in ballpoint pens, blue for the bones, red for the muscles.

I can see some confident lines in some of your figures and your poses show some nice expression as well - check out Gesture drawing, it's a nice exercise.

If you haven't tried Glenn Vilppu's Drawing Manual, you should. His method would compliment the way you draw your figures.

Nice sketch book, it's very fun to look at. I wanted to say something about the whole 'slow[ing] down' thing [keep in mind I could just be misunderstanding what that means] I think that that's not necessarily what you need to do. I mean as long as you go back to check your proportions and keep a line that's sensitive to what you're drawing is there really a problem with drawing quickly? I can imagine that resolving those issues might cause you to slow down but I don't think slowing down alone will help any thing and if it just makes your work more mechanical then you'll be loosing something. Anyway, my rant's done XD. Oh, I really like the conquistador :) just keep an eye on the proportions next time. The legs are really long and the same with the arms. Legs are about half the body if I remember right and an extended arm comes down to the level of the crotch. The angle of the shoulders also seems shallow in relation to that of the hips. But it looks good and I complement you on that :). Good luck getting even better.
