Hi, I'm new here on the Conceptart forum...
I'm sixteen years old and aside from playing the guitar :rocker: i also draw
from time to time.
i stopped drawing almost a year ago,
but i picked it up again a few weeks ago.
Drawing is'nt a thing i do daily but i find it a great way to pass time
when i'm not able to pick up my guitar or when i'm bored.
anyway i hope you like wat i place here and it would be great if
someone could give some constructive criticism.
(BTW: i'm a big music fan, espacially the old stuff so lots of my drawings will
be music inspired)

Hey, great start on your sb. Keep updating every day!
One thing that looks a bit off would be the girls neck, it looks as if it connects to the shoulder instead of the ribcage.
Could you give me a few examples of this old stuff? Bit curious as i am mostly into older music as well.

Led Zep, DIO, etc. /,,/ /,,/

Hey there!
Great start! The last portrait is already pretty good! I think that with some practice your skills will grow very fast! :) Nice bird, it's a shame the scan doesn't do it justice.

@ Vuurdraakje: Thank you very much! well actually it is a picture i took,
the scanner i mentioned is kinda..... broke XD
treid to capture aging with this one, though i did capture the aging part
the six characters look like totally other people, while it was meant to be
one same woman and one same man.... :(

Yay! i drew a 3-quarter portrait and it isn't epic fail!

working on a drawing based on the tree of eden and the song
"Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath:

November 30th, 2009, 08:12 AM
the first one is a old practice thingie i did a couple of months ago,
trying to get the shadows of shapes right and other things.
the second one is a bit out of my normal drawing style,
i think i could expand my style a bit so maybe ill post a couple
of this kinda drawings sooner or later.

don't know what's going on today, totally lost my groove...
oh well it's monday, guess thats the reason.
anyway: this update will suck the most of everything i've posted here.
The neck and shoulder of the manga (thats the right word right?)
are totally clueless of where they should be, the theapot just... isnt
really nice, the tree of eden turned out to be too crowded with the
lyrics on the side (gonna clean that up once i have a scanner again),
tommorow i'll post a better pic.
the only thing i'm a bit positive about is the Southern Cross! /,,/ /,,/
in short: TODAY SUCKS!!!!
(BTW: does somebody know a decent priced drawing tablet?)

Well, got a bit bored at math (strange is'nt it ;))
and drew a bird, it's a strange little fellow though.
took some better pics of the Tree of Eden.
drew a replica flint-lock gun from observation (don't worry the
thing is made from plastic and the mechanism does'nt work)
and drew a oldie goblin.

Did'nt post anything for sometime here...
but i'm back! i've drawn many things in the meantime but i'll
restart this thing slowly with just one little sketch: a Shadow Demoness.
*EDIT* Holy Sh*t the pc expanded the drawing like.. in... 5 fold!! ah well, lets leave it this way

Studing anatomy would probably be you best bet to become better at drawing people, I personally like the bird, though the Line queen has potential if the anatomy of the lions and the girl was a little better. Anyway keep up the good work there are some cool stuff in here

@ Spiderlok33 - Yeah, i need to practice more at anatomy,
never been really good in that without ref. glad you like the birds! i've started
with drawing birds after i saw a painter called "Gary Jenkins" on National TV,
loved how he managed to paint them so fluently (if only i could paint..... XD.
mainly this post is just for response to the comment by Spiderlok33,
but i whas sketching just a minute before that, so here it is.
(used a ref for this one.)

I'min the same boat as you as far as anatomy only, you can get a lot of detail in to your people, my on the other hand have a hard time with that, unless it looks out of place. I wish I would paint to lol, stuck with pencils will christmas then I will be getting a Bamboo Fun.(Good investment if you don't already have one)

Work more on gesture and structure, that way you'll get drawings full of life

December 15th, 2009, 05:58 AM
*EDIT* @ Andres333 - thanks for the tip, i'll practice on that from time to time from now on.
Spiderlok33 - Yeah i've thought about buying a drawing tablet, but on the moment all my spare
money is going into my main intrest wich is playing the guitar.
Refined the last sketch of yesterday a bit.
tried to draw a demonic rat/man but well... he turned out
looking like splinter from teenage mutant ninja turtles. :(
also scanned two of my older drawings wich i've posted before.
The Tree of Eden/Heaven and Hell and Lion Queen.
I think i messed up the tree by putting in the lyrics, but hey, thats
what photoshop is for!! :D
(Tree of eden contains lyrics by Ronnie James Dio/Black Sabbath)

Well, i really don't know how i came up with this one.
but i thought i should post a pic of it before it whas done.
I really think there is something funny with the bald guy's left arm,
or is it just me?
Blacksteen
December 18th, 2009, 08:14 AM
the further i go with this one the stranger the anatomy gets,
the problem is: i can't quite put my finger on it, where is the thing that
messes it up, or is it a chain of sloppy mistakes?
guess i'll just lay down the pencil for today, maybe i'll see it tommorow.

His upper arm's too long, that's what you're seeing wrong. In any normal(ish) person it's the same length as the ribcage (which seems elongated here as well). I'd keep drawing, but you'll have to study anatomy fairly intensely if you don't want to make proportion mistakes like that again.

wow, just realized for how long i didn't post anything on here.
but i didn't do nothing in the meantime! i think this is my biggest post on here
so does that compensate my lazy time?? XD
@ Walnut: Thx for the constructive critisism, i'm trying as hard as i can
to get the anatomy of my figures better, but it takes a lot of time (i'll post
some of the pics soon) i did try to fix the guy's arm on the drawing but i
forgot about the drawing completely after that. Maybe i'll finish it sometime..
anyway, i've tried to draw something with Adobe Photoshop yesterday and
i'm quite pleased about it turned out, i drew the bird with mouse only so it
is'nt really a masterpiece though.
and a lot of other things as a horse from observation, my cat and a World of Warcraft fan-art (yes the gnome's arms are too long... i know it's a small monkey like thing now.... :( )
