this is my first drawing that i feel is near good enough to post, It's a small picture mainly due to the fact i'm using a web cam to take the picture(no scanner) and it loses massive amounts of quality at large sizes.

the only problems i've seen so far are in the wrist, some of the bones are too small and the first set of joints (the knuckles) are too close together. I don't know If I can get any critique from a picture this small but anything would be helpful.

PS. I will try and get a better quality picture/scan soon.

You always want to sketch out the basic shape of anything you draw. Work on individual details later.

Keep in mind that the palm and fingers are about 2 squares in length and thumb knuckle should start at the bottom third of the palm.

Be sure to check out anatomy books as well. I recommend Burne Hogarth's Dynamic Hands for reference.

I don't exactly understand why you mean by two squares.

I did this off of a reference picture i got from google, i will look into the book though. thank you.

don't get me wrong, i LOVE anatomy, but i have to question the value of studying bone anatomy in that kind of detail. generally you want to study anatomy so it can have practical applications and i'm not sure if memorizing all the metatarsals is gonna help you out much.

i don't know what your experience level is so you might already know all this but i'd if you are a beginner spend your time with observational/life/figure drawing and supplement that with basic anatomical studies that you can APPLY in your life drawing.

cheers,
