ok here we go, I thought I'd make a fresh start as the hookah would take about an hour to load for someone with a 56k modem.:p
to sum up my situation, I'm 17, just finished high school (we finish at 17 in queensland) and am waiting to do art at uni in about a month.
this sketchbook is all about trying to improve my skills so please give feedback good or bad! I'll try and post sketches every few days, but I will be drawing every day without fail!
did these first few while watching the usual suspects on TV last night :D

did this one at a party (other people filled like 10 pages of my book with strange swirling patterns and scribbles at that party..)

I'm going to draw a lot more from life from now on.
crits & comments welcome!

I like the monkey sketch.
You have a strong eye for shading, but I think you could do a little more to push your sketches. I know they're just doodles and stuff, but it'd be nice to see some stuff that looks more complete.
Good work =D

I'm not being rude, but the beast sketches in comparison to you human sketches make it seem like 2 different people are drawing on the page. Their are some problems with the structure of the girl on the last page. Check Loomis for methods on head stucture they helpd me alot. :D

hey thanks for the constructive (harsh!) crits guys!
pezz: I agree that my human anatomy is crap but that old man's head really was shaped like that! - yeah and i realise there are problems with the girl too... human anatomy is vital for a good artist tho so I'd better focus on that for a while. I'm totally gonna go look at lumis and then keep sketching... thanks for the tips!

I have the book in .pdf file if you'd like. I wasn't really commenting on the old man I think that one is actually pretty good I'm just talking about the ones you seemingly drew without reference. BTW your beast are awesome love TOADMANN to amazing amounts.

hey thanks pezz - i don't need loomis tho - i'll just get it off the website or kazaa. did some more sketches that I'm not happy with but its all progress. i downloaded poser, which is very useful for figure drawing practice - haven't done much yet but when i do, I'll post em. and I'll start to work on more polished stuff when i get anatomy a little better.. keep sketchin everyone!

nice work studying anatomy, those last poses are sweet :) you're lines seem to be pretty tight and almost hatchy, i'd play around with looseness and gesture , see if anything fits.
seein some cool stuff in here bro, keep it up!

thanks for the recent comments guys! I love life drawing and wanted to do more for this update but there was the biggest storm in 20 years here so we had no phone (and therefore internet) all yesterday. I was in a cafe with some friends when it hit, but i did get some sketching done there...
just a scribble. I have no idea how this got into my head. if bill gates were a gnome...

some friends are planning on making panda suits (god knows why - probably to cause general mayhem anonymously) - we were sketchind designs - only the one in pen is mine.. i looked at it and all i could think was DONNIE DARKO

you seem to have a knack for animal drawing that doesnt show up in all your people drawing.. dont know why that is.. just a suggestion: try giving the animals more animation and expression, have fun playing with various environments and situations... the worm and toadman is kinda what i mean.. or just keep doin you..

I would say that if my human anatomy is behind, and it didn't used to be, then I should work on it til it catches up.
