*Considering the volume of email I received when I last went looking for artists here, I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to apply, and we do read all mail, but we will only be replying to those artists that we are actually considering. We generally reply within 24 - 48 hours (and yes I check my spam box for replies)*
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have hired three artists from Concept Art so far for various tasks, and been very pleased with all three. However, since two are landscape/NPC painters, and the third is on hiatus, I find myself in need of another site artist. May be short or long term (current artists - you may certainly apply for this position as well, however as it's of a completely different nature, we're doing a separate hiring for "item artist" :)

I am currently seeking an artist to draw equippable/wearable items, hairstyles, faces (that is, separate sets of eyes, noses, mouths) plus other miscellaneous items for my virtual pet sim, www.khimeros.com

I am NOT looking for creature/pet artists/designers, site design, or anything else, sorry.

Please note that our art is a completely different style than most other sites of this kind. We do not have simplistic, cell shaded art (see examples below). Potential artists MUST be able to match our style and I must be able to SEE that you can match our style, so please only apply if you can link me to some examples that are at least similar :)

If you don't have anything in our style but want to try a practice piece to submit you can do that as well, using our bases (see below). Please be sure that your sample piece is of FINISHED quality, i.e. a piece that would be ready to be handed in and used. Unfortunately I can't really tell anything from a "quick sketch".

We will of course not USE anyone's practice pieces without your consent and without paying for them.

You must be able to draw various items on request, but we also try to allow as much freedom for our artists as we can. You MUST have the ability to also be creative, and come up with some of your own ideas for items, subject to approval.

You must have photoshop or some program capable of opening large photoshop files (with groups, so unfortunately photoshop elements will not work as it does not support groups).

You must have some kind of IM program like AIM, YIM or MSN messenger, as this makes communication on a project a whole lot easier.

You should have adequate time to be able to produce several pieces each month (we do know that there will occasionally be super-busy times when this is not possible, but should be the exception, not the rule). Please let us know when you apply, how many pieces you think you'd be able to complete in a week's time.

You must be able to work independently and without constant prodding to finish whatever project you are working on.

For some of our art there are certain methods that must be followed very closely (in order to make the items compatible with our compiler), so you must be able to read and follow directions (it's not really that complicated XD... in fact we've simplified things a bit lately).

Finished items must be delivered ready to upload to the site, which means, in .png format, accurately placed according to where the base image of the pet or human avatar sits on the page.

Please don't apply if I'm going to get a "sorry I'm too busy with school" excuse soon after I've gone through all the time of orienting you D:

Rate of pay:

The rate is anywhere between $3 - $15 per item depending on size and complexity, with most items falling in the middle range. Additional rates apply for recolors, alternate versions, etc. If you have have to completely re-draw an item to fit the male or female base, you'll be paid separately for each item. The same applies if we ask you to create a modification of a wearable item, etc. to fit the pets (for example, you'd be paid the base rate x8 if you needed to do a *completely separate* re-draw of a bracelet to fit six pet bases + 2 human avatar bases. Items that require only tweaking to fit on all bases are compensated at a different rate.

Please e-mail links of your examples to admin(at)khimeros.com Please do not send images as attachments or in the message body.

If you'd like to have a further look around the site in order to get a better idea of the style, let me know and I can get you a beta registration code if there are none available on the front page (if there are codes available, you'll see a green bar stating the number). Once you have a code you can register under "main" in the navigation bar.

We look forward to hearing from you :)
