As a daughter of Minister of Martian Affairs Marcus Thompson, Sam has always had easy access to experimental military tech. Developed by former lightbulbs, kitchen-gear and televisions producing company Philips's experimental Philips Nano division, Sam's suit is a prime example of some skilled engineering.
Her suit fits like normal racing outfit, only slightly thicker than normal cloth. It hardens on kinetic impact (like Batman's cape does while being electrified) which protects her from harm while keeping her extremely mobile and able to dodge most attacks with ease.
It's still vulnerable to cutting or stabbing weaponry (that's why the army uses a thicker but less mobile variant of the suit) but Jousts have had their points dulled since the incident of 2681...

that double chow/idw thing is funny ^^
so here comes the same describtion again:
I decided to keep a kind of "medievalness" in the way the armor is looking.
Although I didn´t use any refs for the picture playing "Hellgate London" a few
years ago was quite a nice inspiration for my entry.

I went for Bionic steed, two brains are better than one. My very first attempt at armor and weapons.

Henry Butterton, ex-British Crown jouster, now freelancing for the Wing Kong Steel Syndicate. His STEED, "Sally", as he refers to it, has been with him for decades, though it is evident that she has had wear, the Syndicate has outfitted the STEED with the sturdiest plate they have available to withstand any opponent's lance.

Heinrich "The Hammer" Kaiser, The Black Knight of Bitterbräu.
Steed: Heinrich rides a Mortis X9, which is a custom built mount with Class 9 A.I. The construction is primarily mordsteel® with plasma powered vibro-force shielding.
Lance: Heinrich wields an Excalibur class cold-force PowerLance® that is perfectly attuned to match his jousting style.

AD Jousting is a funny sport. Revived from the Medieval form of the game, this is the highly properly zero gravity sport in which participants ride towards each other on mechanical "steeds". Knock your opponent off their steed by hitting the designated hit zones with you lance to launch him and his pod into space.
Not the sort of sport for the faint of heart, and not one many 23year old girls would be interested in... but Amy isn't your usually young lady. Amy Stone grew up in a family rich in sporting history, her Mother even being the first women to win the inter-solar Grand National. Hoping to follow in her Mothers footsteps, Amy joined the Jousting circuit... unfortunately a little to late. The previous season young bombshell Jessica Ross stepped in a blew the competition away, and became the first female champion in history.
Both this and her insistence in waring her inherited racing gear, makes her an attractive gamble by most large corporations, so she has to settle for the slightly seeder class of sponsor.
Not that she minds. She'll prove them all wrong when the lance is in her hand...

A few notes on this round as usual:
It's good to see so many entries in here, I'm glad everyone is having fun with those team ups with ChOW! Some great entries too, at that. Hope to see everyone back in some future round :)
Also, please note that contrary to the poll in ChOW, this is a SINGLE VOTE poll. Choose carfully!

Great round and very tough vote. I eventually went for nutter for the strong medieval feel and the blatant commercialism... irony makes life better, totally! Great design of the image too.
although colonel's face on the shield might get stabbed quite a bit during fights... but then again people do have the tendency of putting commercials in very strange places.

It was a toss up for me between pixelturner an prepsage - i really liked both designs. I ultimately voted for prepsage, but you can have a pretend vote from me as well, pixelturner :]
edit: now that i look at it again, i really like your's as well, nutter. you can have a pretend vote too.

Ooooh, pretendvotes are the bestest :)
I like Nutter's Steed and Prepsage's Lance...
Steed wins then. :)

In hindsight, I should have layed my image out with a little more thought like some of the others. Character, steed, lance all seperate. :)
I voted for prepsage's steed, lance and character. It just well thought out and designed.
Gerezon, I'm a big fan of that heavy looking steed, but I think your perspective is out of whack somewhere, as the front end looks a bit twisted. could just be me though.
Artofinca, You also have a perspective issue on your steed, on the main image it looks like it's bent. I'm glad you have included the side view, because it looks great there,
Pixeltuner, You got quite adventurous with your design, but the shape of your steed is quite complicated and could have done with perhaps an extra view to reinforce it. I really dig the redering on it though. Also a thumbs up for the costume design.
This is the most I've ever typed in one post I think. :P

Voted for prepsage, a very strong and sleek design! Great work!
Thanks nutters, its constructed a bit like a snowmobile, the front is meant to be turned a bit towards the viewer, but I do agree something is not quite right, had to rush it a bit. Thanks for the crit.

My vote went to Nutter. A strong, simple, unified image. Enough interesting shapes in there to keep you looking. To jump on the pretend vote bandwagon: prepsage, and gerezon. I agree with the slight strangeness about the front.
