Hi CA community, I'm quite new in here, but I consider it a good place and chance to improve and discover new things about art and meet interesting people.

My name's Martí, I'm 18 years old and I'm from Barcelona.

I've recently decided to head towards the field of art in my career and life and I'd like to study animation. But right now, my priority is to learn and have really clear the drawing fundamentals to be able to create freely without being too constraint to technical aspects.

I've never been taught in any artschool, drawn from live models nor studied color nor light behavior though I've always more or less drawn as a hobby.

I'm going to work a lot and post really frequently, but I cannot assure how often that will be.

Ok, let's go directly to it,

Here's what I did today:

A quick creature sketch from imagination (not much) and 40 poses from posemaniacs, 45 seconds each. it's been my first time in that site, but I think it's a good exercice, I'll try to keep doing it. 45 seconds is really fast for me, I find it hard to finish the drawing but I try to depict the figure as a whole, being loose and making long and broad lines.

All critique and feedback will be welcome. It's a pleasure being part of such an inspirational and motivated community of artists and learners.

I apologize for the bad quality of the images and my english.
I'll upload soon, thanks in advance.

Here I've been doing some more posemaniacs, this time 60 seconds each, and it's been much more pleasant. I feel I've been more concentrated this time and I think I have better achieved the expression of the pose essence. Looking at them after, though, they look so primitive, just as the first ones.

hello and welcome ! good idea to start straight with the basics and focusing on what will help you the most at this point,, id suggest learning all you can about perspectice and basics '' construction '' of the figure if you havent already, it would help you mentally simplify the pose you see when you do these quick posemaniacs things. Some of these pose are really good for your first time. Keep posting and stay motivated :)

Cheers

Thanks for your advice, WhiteC. About my knowledge of perspective I would say I have the fundamental theory down, but I may not have practiced it enough. As for the figure construction, I still have to put much more effort.

Today, I start with 30 posemaniac poses, 60s each, and some leg loomis studies. The last leg I've drawn (bottom right corner) it's been from memory and it doesn't look too bad. I'll try to upload some color and photoshop works later, which are not my strongest point.
