Hi! I'm thinking about doing a paraphrase of a clown this week. I found this picture of a clown, but it's already a paraphrase. I need help finding the original painting! I think is was originally painted in the 1700-1800's, but if I remember correctly it was a child with red hair, not a clown.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE ORIGINAL PAINTING OF THIS IS NAMED?

It really looks like the clown from "It" from the movie so it may have been made around that time period.

Wern't there a bunch of paintings (made by verious artists in the 50s & 60s) of Emmett Kelly's "Weary Willie" character? Perhaps it's from one of those... or maybe look up Barry Leighton's work, he did a lot of clowns IIRC.

And yes jellyswirl, I'm pretty sure the picture posted is the clown from "It", so you totally missed the point of the question. lol

Oh! Thanks for the help, but none of the artists you guys posted is the one I'm looking for.

The original painting looks almost exactly like the picture below. It's got the white collar, the red hair and the blueish colors. It is only the face that's changed to a clown in this pic.

I found it in the link below, named "Famous monsters from movies on classic paintings", or something like that. So, it is a classical painting.

The image was created for a photoshop contest (it's entry #10):

Maybe you can contact the person who entered it.
