Hi everyone!

I'm new to conceptart.org, and also to sculpture. I've been drawing for a couple of years, but I decided to take a sculpture class. I'm a Digital Media Design major at University of Penn, so I mostly take CS classes, but I take an art class every semester too.

Sometimes I think drawing is very frustrating, but I find sculpture to be very relaxing, intuitive, and rather worry-free (at least with sculpey). This is only my second sculpture ever, and I wanted to get some feedback and criticism to see if there's anything I should change before I bake it. There are a few things I'm aware of, such as the right arm is too long and the hands aren't great, but there are some things (such as the armature structure) that are keeping me from fixing them. At least I'll know for next time.

A little background about the character. He's a creation of mine, called the Imposter. He is currently transitioning from a female to a male character, which is why his bottom half is female proportions and clothing while is upper half is more masculine. I hope that was communicated well. If not, let me know what I can do to improve that.

Again, thank you for your feedback, and I hope to show you my new work when I get time to work on more sculptures.

BTW, sorry about the mess. I know the presentation is awful, but I couldn't really find a clean spot in the house :)

One more thing - I do my smoothing mostly with my fingers, but occasionally I notice fingerprints too, which makes me think maybe it's not the best method. When I smooth with wooden tools they always make the sculpey flake a bit. Would using plastic tools help with that??

Another edit: I just realized there is a critique section. Should I repost this there or just leave it?

That's really good for a second sculpt. Neat concept. I'd do some cloth studies, just take a sheet and drape it like the sculpt has it. That will be your best feeback.

That's really cool ! You really have some movement going on there.
Good Job! I use a wet paint brush to smooth with. Just water! Some people like to use solvent.
Keep on keeping on!
