Its a nice image, although the setting seems too generic and derived (Aliens movie, Halo and Unreal games, to name a few). Also, the perspective is rather odd, vanishing point being off center on the door to the left. Why? Human figure seems to have a few problems, i'm not even sure if its a male or female. Your technique is pretty nice though.

Hey Yutani
thanks for the reply..
The design is generic because its for a LOW budget film.. i had better ideas and designs for this piece..however, it was chewed up many times by the director..it would cost too much to do this or build that!! i had to tone it down...a Lot!! the director also gave me reference pics of sets from the alien movie. ;-p This is my first time doing set design, especially a low budget one! unfortunately, money matters!
Whats wrong with it being off center? Is the perspective incorrect? Please explain!
The guy sitting down is not proportional. I messed up.

Sure, no problem.
About that perspective...
Basically, there are rules as to making correct perspective,
which you have to follow, because otherwise the image will have problems, namely people will get a feeling that "something is out of place" although most will not be able to identify it. The rule in your case (one point perspective) is that it has to be in the center of the image.
Otherwise you run into the abovementioned problem of the perspective looking all screwed up. I would advise you to look up some resources (books on subject, preferably) on how to map out and make drawings with vanishing point/perspective.
As for the budget and ideas...
My advise would be to instead of coming up with complicated designes, rather go for the mood. Change the tones, add a scheme. Add green or orange hues, rust, more pipes, change floor tile pattern, possibilities are endless.
Hope that helps.

Well I like these. They do look like the ship from the movie Aliens, but I really like that movie. :)
