very cool set of feautures. heard about most of those before, but that wood working plug-in seems really interesting to me, specially now that i can actually do the math to make a stable piece of furniture. would be nice to get some home made chairs

I've been using the Hammer editor for years, mostly the version meant for Half-Life 1. It's interesting to know that you can make vmf's with sketchup, but if you're not accustomed to how Hammer works you could probably end up creating a lot of errors. For example, that six sided column with the sloping top in the picture shown looks unlikely to run smoothly. I think if you had a copy of Hammer (which you would need anyway to add lighting that's not set at one colour and brightness, or to create several other things properly) it would be quicker to simply learn how to use it rather than have to create all the individual components in Sketchup. I was impressed by some of the other features of Sketchup though. That woodworking one sounds like something that could be of great help to me in future.
