I noticed that I am getting some weird effects with my photoshop brushes. When I draw curves with some brushes, I get these facetted effect, like poligons. And other brushes I get a trailing effect...trailing circles (I know that's the brush tip, but is there a setting to tweak to minimize it, painter has the "feature" option)! I don't use Photoshop brushes much, Painter is my main tool; however, I started to mess around with them lately.

I would appreciate if someone could tell me what is going on.

Thanks guys

here is a sample of what I am talking about (sorry about image size, just want you to see the detail of the prob). I have looked into the settings, no luck.

Maybe check your brush spacing?
And Ive heard of the "polygonal" effect before, but its usually that it shows up that way when your drawing and then goes away, because theres some setting to do with like immediate smoothing or something.
Yah, Im rambling..

Set your brushes spacing to 1%, do not turn spacing off (this should be default, darn it).
The polygonal effect you speak off happens when you draw curves quickly. It happens to me too and I haven't found a solution for it yet. Fortunately Painter does not suffer from the same problem.

i have the same problem when drawing quick curves in photoshop 7. strange. my guess would be maybe an insufficient space disk to comptute the spline... but I dont got disk space..maybe you do ..so it's surely not that..

thats why i always sketch in painter...

I've had the same problem with my wacom, since last reformat - just figured out the solution. In photoshop, under brush presets, click 'smoothing'..... Voila!!
