Ok this is my new stuff which I hope will be much better than my old stuff.
Its been pretty cool ride from the first day I found this site. I have tried to work as hard as all the great artists here and when im not here studying im in a classroom studying with great instructors. Some people can make it without school. Not me though, it would take me half a decade to get an interview anywhere. Besides, every artist I have seen interviewed, has stressed the importance of foundation drawing and traditional skills.
I took the advice about the fundamentals and started my first semester last January.Im glad I did; I was able to come across good experiences I wouldnt have had at home. For example
Last week, 2 days before the freshman portfolio review deadline this guy from class was asking about how to matte his stuff. He wanted to know if I would hang out after class and show him. I still had my entire portfolio to do and I was tired and I wasnt sure he would even finish it. Then I thought of Bobby Chiu spazzing out saying "YOU GOTTA PUNCH IT IN THE FACE MAN!"
So I said ok and I went home grabbed everything and came back to campus and we worked for half a day on it. The next day in class he wanted to go again, but I had only gotten 3 pieces half way done after helping him before. Another guy from class heard what was going on and said he probably wasnt going to turn in his because he hadnt started matting. Then this other kid heard us talk and....
By the time I turned in my portfolio on the last day all 3 students had something they could turn in. I had to stay up for 2 days almost to see it but it was worth it to know that they didnt have to 'put of till tomorrow what they can do today'.
So Im going to do my assignments for school and go over notes from class so friends can get the stuff outside of the classroom. And Conceptart can push me to get better.
