Paintings

Hi,

I'm interested in conceptual art & design as a career, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I finish High School and pick university courses.

My question is, are a lot of the paintings on these forums done using computer packages such as Photoshop, building up different colours and using brush tools, etc.? If so, do you typically sketch a layout and scan it, or is done on the computer screen from scratch?

I'd appreciate any insight you could give me into the medium.

taking a peek at a lot of the good stuff on here, and checking out the tutorials will give you a lot of insight into the working methods.. people get asked to see works in progress and "how did you do.." this n that...

The mediums used in here tend to be traditional, but there's a lot of digital as well. I'd suggest trying a number of mediums, and study based on what you like from experience.
