I have been reading a lot about art lately, trying to become good at what I like.
I've been looking for workshops, but either I'm not as good as the others, or they don't last very long. I've seen people getting better by creating these little sketchbooks though, getting advice and references and things... so here it goes...

This is a comission somebody asked me to do. I'm a beginner, and am struggling to get the character right, and after hours of drawing, I' can't see what I'm doing anymore, so I'd like some help before I finish the drawing. I'm looking forward to adding more contrast, and a background to the drawing, but before I'd like to correct mistakes I've done and can't see. I tried to hide the cunstruction lines, but I'm afraid everything became kind of flat. Does anybody know where I'm going wrong?

I think you did a really good job. One thing i know people have a lot of trouble with is drawing teeth, But you did it very nicely. Overall your shading is pretty good, but I'd maybe work on that some more. Did you draw it by grid or just from observation?

Thanks. I combined 2 photographs. The neck is weird because of that. So that's not really observation I think, but I didn't use a grid.
