I've been member here for a while, but not used the forum at all. As I've lost my old job I'm returning to illustration. A lot has happened in the 10 years I've been gone. For sure! So now I'm reconfiguring for the digital media.

Strong line and painterly form... not working too well together I guess.

Thank you :) Planning to make and add a drawing every day. This one took 75 minutes - drawing, scanning and slight digital manipulation.

Wow nice portraits! I especially like the one of the lady looking down slightly, it seems to have a lot of good things working with it it. One thing I noticed though is somtimes your proportions seem a little off, like in the last one her nose is very long. Make sure you do some quick sketches of portrait proportions often, so you get used to what to look for before you start a longer drawing like that. Good start mate!

Thank you, and I hear your advice! It has to be said about that nose that the model actually has a very long one :) Anyway, today's drawing was more of a struggle. It took 90 minutes to draw and 60 minutes of fiddling around with in Photoshop. And I'm still not sure what I feel about it.

Struggling for three and a half hour today with this. Not too sure about it, but I hope I've learnt a couple of things from it.

Doesn't really feel finished, but it is what it is.

This started as an exercise in creating a drawing from only 6 tones of grey, with hard edge meetings between values, It changed a bit during the process though. Spent 6-7 hours on it.

That last one is very nice...good composition and the usual strong expressionistic style.

Thanks :) I try to not get too settled with just doing portraits, so today I did this, in the style of the Codex Manesse. (http://diglit.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/diglit/cpg848/)
