Intro;

Alot of this is just because people here asked me to show you what I was able to do, and for ideas for improvements. As my skills improve, so will this thread. I hope to eventually have real art here, something that will amaze and inspire others. Right now, it's just junk and scribbles.

NEW IMAGES ARE BIG, OLD IMAGES ARE THUMBNAIL'S. (:

Finished Work;
(Don't expect much here for a while. ):)

Unfinished Work;
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5795/xboxbattery.th.png (http://img243.imageshack.us/i/xboxbattery.png/)
Xbox Battery.
Problem with the size of it. It just bored the hell out of me, so I stopped caring so much about being perfect with the size, and more on the shading about half way through. :/ Probably was doing this about 30minutes.

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5089/pencilb.th.png (http://img194.imageshack.us/i/pencilb.png/)
Pencil.
This was a complete rush. Had about 15minutes to do this, and didn't know what to do. Was a busy atmosphere, busy area, busy..everything. Pencil moved about 300 times, and wound me up. ):
I know it's not straight, and ill be truthful - it isn't straight in the image, but the paper was too big for my scanner, so it's a bit more exaggerated with the bends. ALSO; Between the red line, if you look close, you can see I removed some of the bottom bit to try make it better at some point. I'm making it out just so it doesn't look like I did a fat pencil. :(

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/8442/iphonecliff.th.png (http://img10.imageshack.us/i/iphonecliff.png/)
iPhone/Cliff.
The iPhone, I don't about. I did spend a (to me?) long time on it. Probably about 30-45minutes, and I know it's too short. I did a second drawing of it, and the result was perfect height, but not WIDE enough (Literally. I can place my iPhone with the first and second and they're DEAD on width / height in that order. xD).

HOWEVER. I have no idea what made me want to do this, but that cliff was a weird result of me stopping - breathing deeply, and then 'showing' myself a good drawing that I want to do. I have a major problem thinking of what I want to get out, but this was strangely very clear. I think it's good, if anything.

UPDATE 8/11/09

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/1937/tubet.png
Tube
Somewhere along the lines, i've probably been kissed by some grandparent/parent/auntie when I was little, and they've infected me with one of the most annoying things I can think of. Coldsores. I get alot when i'm worried, or stressed, which is totally ironic and defeats the point because then im MORE worried about having it, etcetc. Vicious cycle. This is the tube that saves me though. ;3
ZOVIRAX!
The point is, im SO proud at myself for most of this image. It's not great, I know, but it's simple enough for me to feel proud at it. I really like how it came out! Yay!
I didn't finish it, sadly - but i'll move back to it if people want. (:

http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/3826/appleg.png
Apple
Again, unfinished because it was just problem after problem as with all my drawings. I pay SO much attention to detail that if something's wrong, it leads to another looking wrong..and another. Then it's easier to just give up. ):
I..can't even remember what the thing on the right is. I think I ended up eatting the apple, by accident? I was just really hungry. (:

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3931/chesspiece.png
Chess Piece
I wish I played Chess more often. I used to be really good at it, but nobody plays with me. #1stworldcrisis.
The more I look at this, the less I like it. I think it's quite good, and im almost proud to call it mine, but I start noticing things wrong with it eventually. However, I do like it mostly. It's a glass piece, on a black stand thing. If you want the real image from my iPhone to 'compare', just ask.

http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/3397/cuphandlee.png
Cup Handle
I was wondering if it was hard to draw something this 'weird' shaped and turns out it isn't. Just have to pay attention to everything 'inside' it.
I like this. (:

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/6941/cupv.png
Cup
Meh. I really like the cup, I think I actually did a good job with the shading for a change..
However i'm constantly reminded that my skills aren't that good when I look at that stupid bowl infront of it. This day was terrible, everything was going wrong.
It's a stupid green glass bowl that just wouldn't turn out okay. So I just.. left it and ended up (accidentaly, not out of rage (: ) breaking the bowl. /:

To Do;

Work my ass off. haha (:
Landscapes from life.
More 'Still-Life' objects.
ANATOMY BOOKS SOON. (:

FORGIVE MY 'COLOURS' of lines. I have no idea what to do w/ making it less scratchy and whatnot when scanning. I'll play around with them to see what I can change to make better, but right now I don't think it matters too much. (:

I'm glad you started. Now if you want to be a concept artist it's time to work your butt off!

Try some landscapes from life, and some still life objects. And start in on that Bridgeman. Did you download it yet?

OH. Downloading it as we speak.
It was late last night when I posted this sketchbook in my other thread, so I didn't even realize there were new replies.

OKAY. NO MANGA ANATOMY. ;3

I'll read it now, got one last day off before I start work again, so I can relax a bit today.

Updated first post.
v. Sorry for the 'delayed-double-post' though. /:

Thought someone else might have posted for me to avoid this.

Aha, thanks. (:

Good luck to you and your art. Let's learn together. (:

Come on guys, i'd love some pointers. (:
Does the lighting look okay on these tests? I understand shadow's don't always get darker on normal circumstances, soo - was just testing that.

Thanks in advance guys, and check my first post! I'll always be updating that, never new posts (unless it's scrap like this).

Nice job on shading! I can never shade. :T
Ah well, I like how you have specific notes and corrections. I'm starting to draw as well! Maybe I'll post it, but it's not as good. :D

Thankyou, Turtles!
I'm hoping my shading improves, but first I have heaps more to learn. I just don't know what I need to improve on! ):

Here's some little sketches im trying to do, whilst i'm moving house.

http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/6293/frustrationb.png

Aha, this one was just me being frustrated.

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/1463/oldtowers.png

Something from Medieval ages? I'm not sure, I just kept drawing till I thought I was out of skill. (:

Still looking for tips and what i need to improve on from the pro's. ):
I don't really know where to 'start'.

Good start :) Maybe try using some different types of pencil, some darker, softer leads. Keep working on your perspective too :)

I understand how you feel. I got frustrated during my spare in school while I was drawing something. Turned out bad...:T I need a book preferably teaching me how to draw manga.

Suggestions?

I have plenty. I was big on manga, before I realised how watered down it was. I feel I have more of my soul in painting and digital art than manga, but still love it.

You definitely want to get the HowToDrawManga series. They're perfect for new/advanced artists, and show you step by step. I have every book except their latest one on atmospheres. Hit me up on msn one day, and I can show you some sample pages. (:

I'm glad you understand how I feel, too. I'm having a rough patch with one of my best friends, and it's only piling on more stuff. ):

@Holland; Thanks alot! C:
I'll work on new perspective asap. And then i'll try some new pencils when I get paid. *shakes fist at boss*.

Here's a random sketch to try keep up my skills whilst im busy moving and being poor.

Nice! I recently tried drawing real life objects, I'll upload it sometime soon. But for now, I have....a recent drawing I tried drawing in Paint on PC with a mouse. :P
