Erm.. Hello all.
Let me start off by announcing I am brand spankin' new to this website, so be gentle. I have no means to offend or bother any of you in any way, so if what I do in this thread is breaking some sort of rule I haven't seen yet, please be kind.
I came here for assistance on getting better. I heard about this website from the lovely fellows down over at Newgrounds. The art forums there have helped me progress a lot, but I heard that the folks here are really helpful as well. I enjoy hearing constructive criticism on how to improve, and hopefully there'll be nice people here that can offer me that. :)
I'm self-taught, which I know isn't something that I should impress anyone by saying, and you'll probably clearly be able to tell from the lack of quality from my work. I'm extreeeeemely nervous, because I realize there are a lot of reaaaaaaally good artists here and I'm rather intimidated by this environment for some reason. I feel like a lost puppy.
Lost puppies aside, I'll post my works. I assume it's ok to keep adding until I'm finished? Or should I just throw a couple up and stop?
EDIT: I found the edit button (thanks to my ultra large images stretching the page out hiding the thing, man... I tell ya. The ignorance of some people like me). :3 Attatching a couple images below, instead of blinding you with a shitload of ugly!
Hope to make a couple new friends here, and hopefully improve myself.. Thanks for looking. <3
Ciao,
-Brian.

Yikes. I'm a moron. I'm sorry for the 4 people who clicked this thread and saw this terrible mess. Anyone know how to go into a post and edit it? I'm failing to find that... I'd like to re-vamp my first post, since well, after checking it out, I feel rather embarrassed.
Uhm, anyways..
Lately I've been trying to do more realism, and thanks to Mr. Randis's classes he's been doing on facebook, I started with doing b+w portraits... Here's a couple. (I also realized there was an attachment manager below as well... Gawsh I'm unobservant...)
First one is the first I had attempted, but using a non-human image didn't work. I did attempt a 2nd one, but it was embarrassing, since I made myself look like a horse (since it was a self portrait). The second image attached though, is the 3rd attempt, which is of a man by the name of William Fitzsimmons.
Now that my thread finally went through, hopefully this'll kick me back into doing art a little more often.. Lately I've been out of it, with what MW2 coming out and a bunch of other things hitting me in the face.
I'll shut up now. ><

Meep.. Here's part of a larger image I just finished. This part of it I am particularly proud of, but I know this isn't professional quality or anything. Just thought I'd share.

Just got the urge to draw something... May or may not work on this and make it a full image...

You've got some cool ideas. Keep working on your digital skills so you can communicate them better. You've already got a good start on it.

Much thanks, miss.
Any tips from a skilled person, such as yourself? :^^:
And for anyone in general, what is a good way to just keep on making art? Is it bad to draw when you just don't feel like it? I don't want to get burnt out and not enjoy drawing anymore...
I've realized lately I've either had no good ideas, or the good ideas I do have end up looking terrible and forcing myself to quit, because I can't make them look any good at all..
Here's a sketch I started a week or two ago, but never got around to doing anything with..

mmmmmm... Just finished a picture I've been working on for the past few weeks. Everything is from imagination, like 95% of my work! :D
And below is something I did with a pen and a sharpie marker... I just haven't done anything traditional in a loong time, so I thought I'd share.

Here's a new one.. Took me 10-20 hours.. >< lol It was basically a test for me to see if I could stick with the same picture and keep improving it and going over parts to make sure they look good. That and to further get the hang of painting in photoshop..

2 hour speedpaint.. Did some lines prior to the painting. Only ref. I used was on the gun, and that was to give me a re-vision of how they look.
I see them all the time, but I can't ever remember the details. (i.e. where the sights are and such)
Everything else is from imagination. :)

Here's another one I did, it's some fanart for the madness combat series on newgrounds. It's supposed to be through the eyes of one of these dudes:

:) Hopefully my digital painting skills are improving? Any advice or comments would be appreciated. >.>

Here's a w.i.p. I finished mostly. It's not meant to be perfect yet, just trying to focus on the overall image, rather than the little details..

You've got some nice studies here! Maybe try some more observational stuff, I draw from photos alot too but it's always nice to draw stuff from real life.

Thank you for leaving me a comment, it's great to hear from people who look. :)
And I'll have to muster up the energy to draw something from real life soon..
But for now, here's another gundam fanart from these references: http://samuraidave.wordpress.com/2009/06/26/giant-gundam-gathers-gawking-geeks-in-tokyo/

cheers!
Try working on some more studies from life, maybe in color.
It will all pay off if you work hard
