Hi all. I'm totally new here ^^ I decided to start with a sketchbook in order to see some progress 1-2 years after. Plus I'm kinda in love with this forum. It helped me a lot in past 3 months.
A mini introduction. I'm 16 years old girl living in Rome. I started drawing +- seriously a few months ago (no school or something), so I'm looking for advice and sensible criticism too.
I learn fast enough, so :bounce:
PS. Pardon my lame english. I've gotta improve it too.

I'm glad you decided to start a sketchbook. It's really fun and great for your improvement and motivation (and sometimes a pain in the ass haha). Good start indeed. Seems like you've a pretty good sense of color
Now show us some drawings, especially studies! ;) And thanks for visiting my sketchbook!

Hi!
Thanks for the visit to my book.
I think your idea of doing "studies" is a great one! That's how drawing is learned... through study, because you draw with your mind... not with your fingers! :)
Study drawings of Bridgman and others like him for understanding. When the understanding comes, build on it. You will do very well.
Cheers!

Hey, you have a nice painting style - though I think you could do with quite a bit more anatomy knowledge - it's all well copying references but to be convincing I think you require good knowledge of 'what's underneath' - the bones and muscles. Anyway keep going, you're making progress :) Though I'm not a huge fan of gay manga porn, it made me laugh!

That last where you said drawing women gave you trouble I thin the major problems are in the neck and the bust. The neck seems like it's just a bit too long, especially the way the trapezious (sp) muscles are small and feminine in comparison, it make the neck look eve larger. With the breasts I think you're probably just too used to doing men :P you drew them almost like pecs. unless they're really small I'm pretty sure they should break the line of her torso a little. Blacking out the lower half makes it a little hard to tell too since it's important where the nipple is pleased in relation to the bottom of the breast. Anyway, it doesn't look so bad to me. Try doing some self portraits in a larger mirror, full body if you have one, you don' have o put them up or anything if you're uncomfortable doing that but it really helped me get a sense of anatomy and everything. It's the next best thing to a model XD. Good luck :)

Hey, thanks for replying in my SB!
You've got some cool works in here. Your colours are good and consistent, also you've got good rendering skills.
Be careful with perspective and anatomy, I think those are your biggest things right now. Try to visualize things in 3d; some of my teachers would call it to "paint the empty space". Try to imagine the arrangement of things before starting to draw, and keep it during the whole process.
Anyway, some great stuff in here! Keep at it:)

You have a lot of good work here, and the style you are developing is very promising. It looks like putting some time towards observing cloth and the way different thicknesses of fabric hang off the human form would do you a lot of good. Look at costume design in movies and games that you like and take note of the clothing's structure, where it is drawn tight, and where it hangs loose. Also look at the way that clothing can help define the form. You have a lot of characters wearing stripes, wrap those stripes around the various forms they cover. Keep up the good work!

Fabric & Costume custom brush workshop is here (http://www.imaginefx.com/02287754333250766838/the-custom-brush-guide-fabric-and-costume.html).
Skin & hair custom brush workshop is here (http://www.imaginefx.com/02287754332606896693/the-custom-brush-guide-skin-and-hair.html).
Hope these help and apologies if you've been over to IFX before.
Keep up the good work my friend.

Very nice updates Creusa :D for the first image in post #116 i think the shadows are a bit saturated when compared to the pale skin & there's something off about the hand - maybe the palm's a bit too big & for that second one it would help to do a sketch of his pose cause at the moment anatomy's a bit off. i like this last post :teeth: is it you & your bf?

Sweet work on those sketches Creusa :teeth: i like the way you shaded the drawings, you've progressed so much in just a month & that François Boucher study has nice colors, art has a lot of ups & downs but one thing's for sure - the more you draw, the better you get. The studies are really paying off so keep at it honey, did you draw your father from life or did you use a picture? it looks like a promising piece :)

Hey creusa!
I wouldn't call this "noob learning to draw" anymore! ;)
Your faces are already really good. Just like your feeling for colors! Just your bodys need some more anatomical practice!
Try to fix this in the next months and even years :D

Hey Creusa!
Last painting looks good so far.
But there are some questions i am asking myself when i look at it.
Where are they?
Are They fighting?
Why so orange light? Is it coming from an light bulb? If yes than it is inside. Why inside snow? :D
Just these few questions.
Sometimes making to content right is better than getting an awesome rendered picture :)
Keep it up!

You got a very good sense of colour!
But i think you need to improve your anatomy skills.
Anyways .. great work!

Silwynar, I'm getting extra demanding when it comes to composition. Some wips are just too messy.
Elophant, there's no end for getting better at something xD
So, some studies, a piece I began this evening (gouache) and some moaar of the last digit. Have to study some mecha and... explosions though

Boucher study updated (from post #bla (http://conceptart.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2744587&postcount=121)) Obtained some sort of vampire skin tone, lool. I think it's coming out awesome, I'll also paint a gothic frame so the vampireness will pop up moaar

Awesome sketchbook! The pencil studies are just beautiful. And I love how you wrap the brush texture around the form in your digital work to emphasize the volume and 3-dimensional shapes. Very nice. Your portraits seem to be one of your strongest areas, particularly the nose, eyes, and lips. The faces tend to feel a bit flat in the cheek and forehead area though and could use a bit more definition and emphasis on the planar transition in those areas. I think you've made progress in this particular area in your recent studies, but it could be pushed a tad further in your paintings. I would also recommend working on your ellipses as they tend to come out a bit lop-sided. Flipping the painting can help alert you to symmetry issues, especially on cylindrical objects. Keep up the good work! :D

Wow Creusa, hai una mano incredibile per quanto riguarda gli ambienti: le due landscapes a inizio pagina solamente in bianco e nero mi hanno particolarmente impressionato.
Inoltre ti destreggi davvero bene sia con traditional che digital media. Mi piacciono tantissimo i tuoi lavori.
