Hi! I have no idea what I'm doing! but, I downloaded Maya PLE... I'm planning on getting real Maya soon, so, I know you can't import the PLE files into Maya, can you also not import PLE files into anything? Like, I have Photoshop 7, and I'm wondering how to use the 3d texture painter. this is more of a technical question obviously, and maybe it should be in the other forum but, you guys are the 3d people, so I thought I'd post it here. also, can anyone tell me why I can't post attachments?
thanks

Fletchgirl~ I haven't used PLE but from what I understand you cant really bring anything In or Out of it. 3D texture painter? PaintFX? For the attachments: They want you to host your own images so the forum doesn't get bogged.

hmm. okay. I don't have a website or anything but I guess I can put them on my aol homepage for now... or something. boy, trying to use Maya is really driving home something that I heard a couple years ago. the stuff that's really easy in 2d is really hard in 3d... and vice versa. I still feel :bash: around
computers though. you feel so removed from the process.

Heh heh.. Just don't do what I did and drop traditional art for 3d.. wasn't intentional.. i wasn't even aware of it at the time.. ...Finding the right balance is key.

Let me know if you've got any maya related questions though. I'm glad to help.

so... I was looking at the poly head modeling tutorial from one of the other posts... that means I cant import a JPEG, dosn't it? ech... um, would it be possible then to do my front and profile drawings on the 2d canvas and use those the same way? As for dropping traditional art, at least right now I have somefreelance stuff to do in 2d... so, at least for now I'm okay. thanks for the warning though... that's already started with me and PAINTING vs PAINTER....

The 2d canvas will work fine for that.
Your right tho' maya doesn't like jpegs but you can use .tif or .targa's just as well.
