Sorcerer & Mushroom_King

C&C welcome I would appreciate any oppinions on this peice, It is a slightly different style than my usual, and I am curious how it will be recieved. Like it hate it? let me know.

I like it. Well done... I would have liked to see his right palm upturned and a burning ball on top, instead of him 'dropping' it instead...

besides that, it's nice. The shoulder plates are a bit much though they don't detract from the picture at all.

No suggestions really... a litte more earthy, magic qualities might have helped.

Very archaic looking sorcerer, it's cool.

I agree with Daniel about the ball. It's kind of hard to read exactly what he's doing with it. I know the "floating above the hand thing" is a bit cliche, and perhaps you were trying to be a little novel. Just not sure this particular effect is working. Maybe, instead of flames on the top, create some sort of tether of energy that engulfs the ball and connects it back to his hand (or better yet, connects back to each finger tip individually). Maybe that will get rid of the whole "oops , I dropped the ball" effect.

Beyond that I dig it. I'm in the middle of reading the Return of the Archwizards novels (Forgotten Realms/D&D) and this guy totally brings to mind one of the Princes of Shade.

the characters right shoulder pad is pointing in the wrong direction from his stance. right now its sitting on his shoulder as if he was standing facing toward you.

however he is tilted to the side and as such his shoulder pad should be pointing away from the viewer. his torso also seems to have the same problem.

other than that this is a solid pic man... would like to see an updated version of this. :D

I say the way it is now make the pic more orignal. Its a great disign. I've seen to many pics done like that now a days its getting old.

The update looks cool... I am almost tempted to think suggesting that you move the orb of energy into his palm and give him a cane of lightning...

it's novel, and you could make it look good...

Thanks for the comments guys, I just put the ball under to be a little different heh. Well any way here is something I just finished, It isnt exactly "finished" but it isnt a sketch or doodle either. I thought about posting it in the painting stuff forum but I really dont want to have to paint somone elses stuff with my mouse heh. Takes too long to get something worth looking at~ This was inspired by one of the DSG topics

I like the mushroom king. The way stands there so nonchalantly, leaning against that dumb barbaric mercanary who dared to mess with the little shroomie guys. Now he´s a slave to the mushroom empire, mykhorrized into something between a human and a mushroom. A soulless guard in an enchanted forrest. So intruders beware , take those little shroomie guys seriously and don´t eat anything they offer you.

Thanks for the comments/crits guys, I hope you like the edit on the sorcerer. Vex8 that is a pretty cool interpretation, though my actual Idea is that the center guy is the Mushroom King/Guardian. More stuff coming soon.
If any one else has any crits/ suggestions I would love to hear them.

The Mushroom guy looks awsome. The only thing is that to me mushrooms have soft, round, smooth edges and too me the whole crown thing sorta takes away from it. If you would just put some roundness into the image it would be better. Thats just my opinion and I hope you get to color this it looks great.

on your latest piece, I love the beast a ton man! it looks cool. something about the girl bugs me. it seems generic in the face. I think the fact that the lines are all the same weight has something to do with it, mabey change the line width up a bit?
