A first glance and I almost trudge along but then it hits me. My brain stirs, my heart races, its dawns on me. You've found the greatest picture ever. I can do nothing but stare, every gesture, every slight nuance, the characters, the faces..... my eyes roll back in my head and I start to froth at the mouth....

Good work but it would be cooler if the judge was wearing the woman's aborted fetus as a hat and there would be blood all over the place but there would be like a bunch of tissues falling out of the sky since this is supposed to be a symbolic image.

The painting is titled "One Nation Under God", and depicts Jesus holding the Constitution.
Yet, the word "God" is never even mentioned in the Constitution.
In fact, it was expressly avoided.
It seems someone has the missed the entire fucking point of our Country's value system.
ugg.
At least it's well painted.

the only thing that interest me from any religious flier is usually the art, they're mostly done by great realism illustrators.
o and Im not religious, but I dont condone any anti-religion sentiment.... its the people who abuse it who are at fault, not the religion itself. People who go out of their way to express their opinion of how bad a simple belief is are just as worst as the zealots who use it to profit off of.
in other words, why are you trying so hard rationalize this picture, as if anyone even expected it to make absolute sense? The guy in the middle is born from a virgin mother...
EDIT: O GOD I JUST READ THE WEBSITE AND I cant blame anyone who bashes Religion, People who still strongly believe in that crap are ALL zealots anyway. The painting didnt have any effect on me.... Reading its meaning made me angry

Ok, people, you're all still missing the biggest gripe! The Constitution wasn't designed to limit the power of government, it was meant to strengthen it! That's why there was a huge debate on whether to ratify it. Remember, the constitution gave the US the legal authority to fight in the Civil War.
What a big painting to make without understanding the history behind it. :P

This picture is actually interesting. Notice how nobody is that good looking except the Jesus guy. A lot of the faces are the same. In the upper right there is a women wearing a bonnet. She has the same face as many of the men surrounding her. In the lower right death is lurking in the shadows, maybe because most of if not all of the people represented are dead.
Maybe this painting is called “Afterlife in America” . If so then who is the guy on the cell phone talking too?
I actually like the painting. These are all convincing characters as people. They Jesus guy looks like a movie star, there is probably a real handsome man that he is based on. But the subject matter is odd. This guy can paint. The composition isn’t much, there is a focus in the middle framed by two horizontal lines, kind of like a geometry lesson.
I can’t make any sense of why the union soldier and the judge have their faces in their hands, is the glow of the constitution too much for their eyes? Everyone else seems to be fine with it. Except maybe the guy on the phone. He may not have even noticed that Jesus and the constitution are there.
I think the guy counting the money is the painter.

Wow. The symbolism is so deep! Notice in the lower right's presumably hellbound bunch is a rich guy counting is stack of cash. This might be a tough catch for some people so I suggest he paint him holding a sack with a dollar sign on it next time.

And my favorite, An unwed (see missing wedding ring) expectant mother! I have to assume the artist is including her just for being an unwed mother. I feel at this point I understand his implementation of symbolism enough to know that if she was also an abortionist, he would've painted her holding a coat hanger or something.
http://ndhill.com/img/preggers.jpg
A can't think of what the other two guys are exactly all though I'm pretty sure one of them's probably gay... The other one? Hmm. Did he go over on his rollover minutes?
