Hi people,
Since this is my first post/thread, I think it is a good opportunity to introduce myself.
I'm 21 and from Germany/Hamburg. I'm attending an Design-related technical school to be able to study at the University for Applied Science Dep. Illustration.
I think i have a long way to go, to reach that kind of skill i wanted to have.
To make it short i'm looking foward to get some tips ,crits and some other useful Info and of course fun:bow:
Here I go^^

So far, your studies are good. I would recommend that you work on your digital colors a bit more.

hey,
i think you should keep working on your anatomy and muscle studies, your figures seem alittle flat, so maybe some shading aswell?
nice sketchbook tho, keep it up!
super skoda

Your figures feel very 2 dimensional. I think it's because there is little or no foreshortening going on. If you take some time and construct your figures with cylinders, really thinking of the form as a 3D object, you might seem some improvements. There are tons of art books that illustrate how to do this.
I would also recommend drawing from real life as often as possible.
It looks like you have a lot of really good ideas! Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see more!

Thanks for these nice tips :) i ll work hard to meet my (and your^^) expactation.
yochanan : It's a spanish book translated in german with the title "Dibujo de Anatomia Artistica" ~ "Draft of the Anatomy for Artists" i think in english"
Frittzell(Image) : yeah i think I ll do that, thanks
super skoda : I think that too. maybe adding some light skin-texture^^
clockworksnail : mh shading yes of course :tihi:
FightingSeraph :yes i knew it, digital coloring is really my weak area like anatomy, have to work on that.

Some exercise in Digital colouring
the famous apple : )
step for step into the art of digital colouring^^
rth2art
November 25th, 2009, 04:00 PM
Nice start. The apple feels a little flat and it feels like the values need to be worked on a little longer. Nice though, I def. knew it was an apple.
Some of your figures seem to have awkward poses (ex. the archer who's arrow is pointing slightly up and bow is pointing slightly down) so make sure to double check your sketches before you start fleshing out the figure.
Seem like you are doing a lot of work so keep it up.

Hello ArrAy,
I am sorry to hear that your cat passed away. :[
As for your studies, keep it up. take your time with doing pencil studies aswel.
In that appel stillife i see you used white as a highlight.
Try to really opserve the object your painting stillifes from and carefully
choose your colors. try to avoid using pure white for highlights and black for shadows. theres actually some color in it.
I really, really dig that last piece you posted.
Would love to see it finiched.
Keep on trucking!

Try this: forget all you think you know about drawing, and start scratching the gesture, then the structure, and only after these steps you should do some shading

You have a great imagination but should buckle down on the basics also. You should pick up on Figure Drawing: Design and Invention by Michael Hampton, Atlas of Anatomy by Robert Peck, and Succesful Drawing by Andrew Loomis. Those would really help. Please check and out my sketchbook and feel free to leave any comments. I would greatly appreciate it.

I like the drawing that has the perspective lines going on. Keep it up when your studying anatomy. Try gettin books like Drawing Manual by Glenn Vilppu, and Figure Drawing by Michael Hampton.

Got hold of some brigdeman sketches, so i tried to get them down of his point of view and understanding. Wanted to be as loose as his linework and go with the flow of the anatomy.
