Welcome to CA!
Good start! We all have started as newb's and its just draw draw and draw. I like that you start with color I was so afraid of colors. You have used wery light and high staruration. I love to do studies of famous paintings so thats a good start for anyone that like to work with color and composition.
I dont know how good your figuredrawing is but If you wanna do character designs and creatures, figure drawing is important. Draw figures as warmup and study anatomy and proportions. Blocking out characters is a good way to learn proportions.
Keep posting and dont give up.

good start with the muscle structure. :) just keep on going like that. Theres always a time where one has to design a character with particular features, and think wait, I dont know how to draw the back of a human/animal etc...so it's good that youre going into the anatomy studies now. They'll be in good use in future :D so keep up the studying, and of course, creating your own characters.

By the way, what are you major influences? like anime, movies, books, comics, mangas etc. Having a wide variety of interests in those categories will benifit you greatly.
Personally I have more influence from Animes since they have great character designs, although some may seem unrealistic, but you can merge some style from other areas as well to your own liking.

Welcome to CA Jack,

My advice would be to keep practicing and keep posting your work on here. You'll get some great crits from people which will help you improve and you never know, one of the big dogs may drop by and lend a helping hand :) Great start and keep up the anatomy studies.

Its supposed to be a mix between a Bison , a Bull and a Torch *g* The right side is how it looks without the Layer with the Flames (thats also the Picture im working on currently.)
I guess im gonna give up on that one as im still not able to draw a human .P This is gonna become some weird Nightmare-ish thing^^

Anyway i havent really done many interesting things so lets just pretend i never really stopped posting my Crap here.

This is something i started working on a few days ago.

So im still not sure about the head design...and i still dislike his bodyarmor o.o It feels to...human-like. Im going to try and make it more insect like in a few days. Im also going to upload the pictures i made of him with ma pencil before trying to convert it to PS.
