Hello from a new member! Normally I'd prefer to make some big entrance by showing my work, but this is urgent and I figure if anyone can help me out, it's everyone on this forum!

I'm looking for a school that I can attend over the summer in SoCal in between semesters in school back east. I'm hoping to get credit for digital art courses, but a classical art atelier might work too.

Since I don't live on the west coast, I'm really unfamiliar with what is out there, and what has the best reputation.

Thanks so much in advance!
Demosthenes

Thanks so much Noah

Are there any others that are closer by chance?

Hi!

The closest "classical art atelier" from Anaheim, CA is the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA), which is about a 50 minute drive on a good day. Watts Atelier is about a 75 minute drive. Both are great choices if you are seeking strong foundations in traditional drawing and painting. Neither have a robust digital art program at the moment.

What do you mean by "digital art" anyway? Do you mean concept art and/or visual development?

If so, you might also want to check out Concept Design Academy (CDA), which is a small school geared towards equipping students with the skills to break into the entertainment industry. It offers courses in analytical figure drawing, digital illustration, production design, character design, vehicle and robot design, environment design, creature design, storyboarding, and sketching for entertainment.

In the same building as CDA, is 3 Kicks Fine Art Studio, another small school specializing in traditional studies. They offer courses in analytical figure drawing, quick sketch, head drawing, portrait painting, and figure painting.

CDA and 3 Kicks are both located in Pasadena, which is a 35 minute drive from Anaheim. A combination of classes from these two schools might be your best bet if you don't want to drive too far or too often.

Good luck~

Studio 2nd Street (http://www.studio2ndstreet.com/) is pretty good, it's small as hell, but it's pretty good. Both the teachers there are very experienced in illustration and fine art. It's pretty affordable too.
