I'll start off by saying that I'm an artist myself. I have a gallery here on CA,
and fully understand how much love is put into each piece of art. Therefore
I will not ask anything that I wouldn't be willing to consider doing myself.

The comic will be dark. It's a bit action, a bit morbid humor, and a little
more then a bit horror. Think Preacher or 300 Days of Night as far as the
overall feel. If this sounds like your style then read on.

I'm looking for an artist to work with me on a pitch to Image comics. They
only publish user created comics, and thus require every writer to bring
their own creative team to the table before they will consider their story.

So, I repeat; I am not asking for a long term, no pay
commitment. If our pitch is rejected you are free from any further
obligation and I will not use your work for anything else in the future
without your explicit permission. Image also holds no rights to the work of
their creative teams, and all profits beyond their small fee goes to said
creative team. If we are published we will split those profits 50-50.

What I Require for the pitch,

** The first five pages of the script, penciled and inked. (and colored if
you are interested in doing color)

** Mock ups for the three central characters. (This is not required by
Image, however they will accept them and I would like to get a feel for
how you work up a character.)

** A Cover Mock up.

** Dependability. (If our pitch is accepted and one member backs out
then the other member has to start all over. Plus I don't want to be one of
those series that vanishes because the creative team can't get their act
together. This is very important to me.)

** Be better then me. This shouldn't be too difficult, but check out my
gallery to make sure. (I want a well rounded artist. I never want to hear,
"Hey, I can't do architecture." If I wanted an artist who can't draw a
building I would do it myself :P

What I offer,

** A real chance at publication. I'm not very good at blowing my own
horn, but my idea is good, my characters have actual depth, and I know
how to write a script in a way that's interesting and succinct. I have been
published. I'm not perfect, and I'm not the greatest thing since Gaiman,
but I can tell a damn fine story and I don't give up.

** The chance to work with a writer who knows what it's like to be on
the other side of the fence, and appreciates the fact that the art is just
as important as the writing (In fact, when it comes to getting a first time
reader to pick the title up it's more important). This means I will
never waiver on the 50/50 split.

Send samples of your sequential work to me @ Jsmith0316@Gmail.com

(They will be discarded as soon as my final decision is made, and will be
used for no other purpose then for me to judge whether you are a good fit.)

I will choose my top few choices and send those artists a copy of the
synopsis as well as the script for issue one in its entirety (If you want to do
more then the first five pages that's up to you).
