I draw a few days out of the month then fall off, getting distracted by other stuff.:nohope: Egon Schiele, James Jean, and Francis Bacon inspire me the most.

Your doing great. Those gestures (30 secs) are the best I've ever seen for such a short period, they've got all the movement and weight described very economically. Your work looks good so far, you've got nice lines, good poses and a unique shading quality (the woman in post one). The work you do from imagination has a few problems with anatomy and proportion, but that'll go away after a while.

If you find you lose motivation to keep do studies all the time ( I don't know if that's the reason you only draw a few days a month, but I would too if I only did studies, glek), try doing something you really enjoy, maybe every second day, like doodling, self portraits, works from imagination, or whatever. We're rooting for you so keep on posting! This is a sb, you can post crap if you want to. I do alllll the time.

Hrm, if I remember the Marshall stream correctly, you're better off not knowing the Bammes text. Seems to have the problem many do, in that it becomes confusing as hell =) hehe

Looking good though, I'm about to do a self-crash-course through anatomy as well. Good luck with it!

yea, i agree those figures are looking good man! also, i have to agree with you on preferring to draw the figure exaggerated, and not exact every time. im not sure if it helps or hinders your progression, but its fun, and thats really what art is about, imo. keep it up!

Fantastic figures in here! I love your lines too, so clean and neat and dynamic. I personally don't mind exaggerated figures; they're fun to both draw and look at. I'd love to see more, keep posting :)

So you can draw, and pretty well indeed.
FLuency and the fluidity show easily in your contourwork.
But i think you should start droing mass drawing(shading) as well painting.
I left that part out of my studies and I suffered majorly, now I am always trying to keep up with my drawing.
I love drawing the figure exaggerated and distorted, it's the only way I have fun drawing, but I don't think that's a good way to learn
I think its a good way, but balance is important, distort what you know, exxagerate what you can, you can lie properly when you the truth, right?
SO do exxagerate, its a great way for the mind to register things. But keep in mind the balance.
Paint and draw with passion.
Whatever done with passion will result to something strong and convincing.

Hey Ryan - nice sketchbook. I know what you mean about being accurate and doing construction not being fun sometimes - I agree. For me though I work hard on it because what I find even less fun is not being able to draw accurately when or if I want to. I can always exaggerate or "stylize" something but sometimes I want to be able to "nail" it as well. Anyway, just my thoughts on it - like I said, depends on where you want to go with things. You should check out some of those great figure artists in the fine arts forum - they're very accurate yet you still see a lot of exaggeration and style in their work. Keep it up man!
