the lady is stunningly warm and cozy.. and the other portraits are great. the one media that has always pissed me off the most is watercolor.. just not a perfectionist's friend i guess. Awesome stuff nice to see ya round - chudds

I wouldn't be that critical about watercolor. it really depends on your 'creative idea' and your technique. there are some incredibly precise images done with watercolor (not my style thoguh, but still I like watercolor and what it offers)

Hello jhibbs,

your are very productive and you are good...
I like your oil painting , your shadows are frank (??) and realistes.A very true medium style even in your ps work.

Maybe ease certain details in the background for the last one for most focus.

Your work encourages me to work more ....
Continue.

Cheers,
Zef

This is pretty awesome, jhibbs. It's even funnier in context. I think you should show it to our teacher. ;)

Hahahaha.

Jhibbs you are good :D this reminds me of an artist who used to only use one piece of tape a couple of inches to create images. i wish i could remember the name... oh well... this is awesome work! keep it up!

i really like the last couple of paintings.. great use of the knife. it really animates the surface in both. i like the self portrait especially: nice lighting and great sense of value. my only critique is for the portrait of the girl... the headband is a little distracting. its not big deal though... still a beautiful painting.

canvas or wood?

jhibbs
March 25th, 2004, 01:48 PM
Yea I agree, I was having trouble maknig the headband read as a part of the form. Both of them are on canvas, and I'm really enjoying using the knife (these are my first two knife paintings ever) so expect to see more.

What everyone here doesn't know is that Jhibbs is REALLY FAT in real life. He just draws himself skinny... some sort of complex.
