Hello, I'm Thomas, a 15 year old living in the grand capital of Australia that is Canberra. I've been drawing for a few years now, but only became serious about a year ago. Recently I've become even more dedicated to improving my artwork, and have begun working on it for more than the hour a day I used to spend. I've also been lurking on ConceptArt for a few months now, and have often intended to create a sketchbook, but have always shied away from doing so.
So I've finally worked up the courage create one here. If I'm going to get any further in my art, I think I'll actually have to get some critique and advice from artists more skilled than me, lest I end up muddling around in mediocrity for the rest of my artistic career.
To kick things off, I suppose I'll start with some recent Posemaniacs drawings (Apologies for the poor quality)

Some perspective and still life.

Hi Tom, good start! Great to see you started with basic perspective exercises. They are the foundation of everything you will draw. It might be a good idea to draw the invisible lines of the objects as well: they are very useful for the construction of complicated objects. Keep going!

I do draw the invisible lines, it's just they're so light my camera doesn't catch them. I have a scanner but it's connected to an old hulk of a computer that takes ages to do anything, so I don't use it much.
Edit, I'm a twit, I see what you mean. I'll start adding them in.

Some drawings from the back yard, some groggy posemaniacs drawings and some from life.

Please pardon my necromancy, I've had a bit of schoolwork and some exams to study for. I've been studying Proportion from a few sources, and have started studying the underlying bits of the body (the skull comes from this thread: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=168512

Those posemaniacs with the Bridgeman proportions are good!
I'd suggest doing a much longer study, though. You learn alot about anatomy if you try and consciously take in what you can from doing one. :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to supplement my studies with a longer pose.I've been consciously trying to slow down and be more careful, but I occasionally lapse.

Some Bridgman studies and another skull from the that thread. I also took Slothboy3000's advice and spent a bit more time on a pose, which I got from Character Designs. com (Set 26, Photo 20)

I spent about 40 minutes on this picture, and while I can see I went wrong in places, I still feel pretty proud. The figure is from set 26, photo 120, while the skull is from the thread in references and inspirations.

Had a nice, productive weekend spent drawing figures.
The reference for this is Character Designs, Set 27, Photo 96.

It's good to see you drawing from reference. Try to draw from life sometimes if you can, rather than just photos. I found it to really be a good practice! It's good to hear that you are working on your art as much as you can, it'll only set you that much farther ahead.

Character Designs isn't the only reference I use, but its the only one I can consistently refer to.
The bones are taken from Bridgman and Artistic Anatomy.

Going back to Perspective study.

This was difficult, but fun to do, although it's not entirely correct in proportion and perspective-wise.

great studies here!
Now you can switch to other aspects: portrait, hands, still life,...
you can also study anatomy with Bridgman, Loomis and Kchen
keep it up !

Ohhhh it's been a while. The first term rush of school interfered too much, so all I've been doing is some perspective for the past few months. I'm free now to start drawing again, so I hope I can start posting more consistently.
The skull's pretty awkward on reflection; the jaw is on a different plane to the cranium. Oops.

Hello!
I concentrated on the mandible and teeth today. References are Artistic Anatomy and Gray's Anatomy.

Some more work on the mandible, seeing how much I can remember.

Moving upwards to the mandible.

Just been working steadily on the Facial Skeleton and Mandible. This one is to see how it looks when the mandible is wide open.

Worked a a bit more on layering the shading, but inadvertently spent less time on the form of the skull, so it looks awkward in some places.

This skull was great fun to draw! I tried to be a bit more careful in the construction stage, layering in with blue pencil and then outlining it lightly with lead.
