Gonna try to do self-portraits every day, hoping I can keep it up awhile. I need all the practice I can get.
These were done over the past three days.. zombie one was edited from a self-portrait that's a few months old(that i spent a little more time on than these others).

Thanks!

And wow, this is only my third post. Seems weird for as much as I lurk.. still a bit too intimidated to do much commenting, I guess.

Here's a quickie. All of these have been done in under an hour (except the zombie one), but I am hoping to do a longer one soon. And maybe give some different mediums a shot.

The problem that you're having, for the most part, is with values. If you squint at the images, most of them flatten out with no depth, with the exception of the zombie one. When you're drawing yourself, squint at yourself to get your eyes to simplify the shadows, will give you a better idea of the depth and a better grasp on how to render it when using color so you can create the feel with the digital paintings. Hope this helps! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comment! Did a grayscale to practice with values. I'd like to start all my images with grayscale, but using hue/color settings to color it never seems to work out right, and I feel like I have to just repaint the whole image. It's definitely something that's troubling me.

A week under the belt. I'm proud of myself.

Okay, this recent one is awful, I did it in about 6 minutes. Trying to get more confident with bigger brushes, though. My computer keeps throwing fits and really won't allow me to spend much more time on it.

Another thing - I won't upload anything in a few days. But wipe that look of disappointment off of your face! I'll still be doing the self-portrait. I'll upload them en masse when I'm back to my computer.
