well.. dunno really what I want with this but input would be nice, umm theres a few perspective problems I suppose. at least where his shoulderpad is. what I prolly need most is advise on designing details. where u guys look for reference for all kinds of shit like robotic details and such. thanks!

This image is quite good for a character sketch. The shoulder pad area just looks a little flat, as if the arm is drawn from directly side on. Just get some reference for this or a mirror to get the basic angle right.
As for references of creatures and robots, who f**kin needs them, have you ever seen a real one? No, so just go crazy, If you can create something more original -go for it.

well there are robots irl yet I get your point. thanks for the advice. I've fixed the shoulder pad area and will post the final painting as soon as its done. thanks again.

If your after references most pro's recommend using vehicles for robots, driods and mechs. Look at Engines, engine bays and under the vehicles. Pics of motors that have been dismantled can also be very useful.

May i suggest going wild on the stomach part wif the happy yellow cables? Put some eyecatcher in it. Reactor, shiny metal, oil canister, bolts screws sparkles etc.
