View Full Version : DSG 1510: Sci-Fi • MECHANIZED CYBERNETIC CRAFTS AN ORGANIC FACADE FOR ITSELF

.
[ This robot might be creating a sort of protective skin inspired by animal life... ]
[ Or it might simply be interested in the aesthetic of intersecting, curvilinear, forms... ]
[ Or perhaps this is a disguise to avoid detection in order to escape or in order to study a lifeform... ]
[ Or maybe it's a furry attempt to bridge the psychological gap between organic and non-organic intelligences. ]
[ It's a pretty rich topic, really. ]

a little bit of back story :yum:...after its mision failure the recon9x calculated that in order to "survive" it would have to create its own protection using the planets organic resources.

It's not that I don't love my share of robots and aliens, but next DSG can we have something besides aliens and sci-fi and the like? In order to grow creatively, shouldn't there be a variety of of subjects? I'm not baggin on anyone, just sayin'.

Infiltrator droid get's outfitted for a mission.
I'm still learning how to paint, so this ended up taking me three hours. Any critiques would be very helpful.

Stuck at work so it is the pencil for me. Might throw a bit of colour on it. Great work so far.

Don't know if it is completely on-topic. But this came to my mind when reading the outline.

This is the first pic I have uploaded in C.A, all critique is welcome.
The robot is about to turn into human, the skin is already spreading.

I thought I'd throw this up while this thread is still open. It's still unfinished.
My idea was of a humanoid robot that had captured and studied people in order to take off and wear their skin and become "perfect". Thus a lab-like scene in the back. The robot would keep the human specimens around so I wanted to add a container on the left with them stored in it. The robot would be fixind something in his mechanical arm and thus you'd see that he is actually robotic. Kinda grotesque I know...but a fun test.
As this is my first post/drawing here so critiques are very welcome! :teeth:

Been visiting this site off and on for years, first time posting a sketch and more importantly, first time using a wacom tablet.
More skeletal and less mechanized but it works i guess heh.

Its more of a disguise but still.
It started out as a sketch but I turned it into a anim for school.

Have any of you ever looked at any of the masterpieces that all the greats painted? I think yours is really neat and artistic, just cause it's not full of so much detail and has the perfect rendering as if it had to be thrown into a 3D movie lickety split like so many others in here, doesn't mean it aint art or good, I think sometimes all this technology has made many turn there back or an eye on the simplicity of some art. People have different versions of what their eye considers art...I liked yours alot, I'd put it on my wall if it were framed  Actually the robot dude looks like it'd be a cool lawn structure made out of metal
