I am looking for a collaborator who will provide all the art, graphics and design for my upcoming indie game. This is a paid position, but I do not want artists who will charge for every little concept, and art asset throughout the creative process.

The core gameplay will be very reminiscent of PuzzleQuest (RPG/match3) but will have a casual theme, more animations and hopefully a unique art style.

Here is a breakdown of core graphics needed for the game (as I see it at this point):

Main Puzzle Gameplay:
8-10 Animated Characters (~10 animations each)
All characters will have similar animations.
If there’s a way to create one human character with different clothes/dress variations that would work well for the enemy.
At least 6 Distinct Player Characters
6 Puzzle Tiles (48x48 Pixels)
Animated Mouse Cursor (Player 1 cursor, P2 cursor, and HourGlass/Waiting Animation)
Counters and Menu Items:
Health Bar
Puzzle Tile Counts
Buttons
10 - 12 Backgrounds (1024x384px)
Combo/Popup Notifications

Overworld Map
10 - 12 Map Locations/Buildings
Small Enemy Avatars
Player Avatar
Map Background
Menus/Buttons

Title Screen
Game Logo/Title
Menu & Buttons

Pause Menu
Buttons
Menu Design

Please keep in mind that the above list does not detail every explicit graphic needed for the game. It just serves to outline the bulk of the work. Again, I am looking for a collaborator who is interested/experienced in indie games and looking to contribute beyond just the compensation.

Please send me a quote for the work cited above (and include a contingency for additional work that will a rise). It will also be very helpful if you send along any concepts or examples of the art style you would utilize for this game.

Quotes, Portfolios, and Concepts should be sent to:
gradgames[at]gmail[dot]com

If there are any questions, please post to the forum and I will answer promptly.

I don't think that you are going to get much feedback on your posting without offering some hint as to what you would be willing to pay for this position. The position you are wanting to fill requires multiple areas of specialty. Graphic Design, UI design, character design and animation, and backgroung and environmental design. That is a lot for one person. Just my opinion, but I think people are going to want to see up front if it will be worth their time.

Jason is absolutely right. We need to have an idea as to what you are willing to pay. Also remember that quality art does cost money. Most of us here are professionals, not hobbyists.

I have worked with Graduate Games in the past and I would bid on this job if I could. The pay was fair for an indie job and I didn't have any problems getting paid. The description could be more complete, but it is still quite detailled. Mike is also prolific and there could be return work for an artist who delivers.

It is time consuming but not very hard for an experienced artist to put together a quote of what they want to be paid. If you hire an electrician, do you tell them in advance what you want to pay them? How about a mechanic?

On one side, you have employers who say what they are willing to pay and artists complain that they offer too low, and on the other side, you have employers who ask how much you charge and still artists complain that they want to be told how much it pays. People, get off your asses and make a quote, it's part of your job.
