hey guys not sure if this is the correct place for this but here it goes.... ive been studying alot of the skeleton (from a fake skeleton) and i want to start putting muscles on it one by one (literally) since i cant exactly bring him home with me. buut everything that ive seen (which admittedly isnt too much) will give me just some general info on things, and id like to know how each and every specific muscles works and how it attaches to the bone and/or other muscles (along with tendons and how/where fat deposits accumulate) so i was looking around on the internet and found this "atlas of human anatomy" by Frank Netter

http://www.ippbooks.com/store/atlas-of-human-anatomy-with-netteranatomy.com.html

which was about the only thing that seemed that it would be what i want. unfortunately i cant flip thru the pages to see if it is indeed what i want, and i dont want to go spend 60-100 $ on something what will be worthless.

does anybody have this or have any suggestions on something that will help me understand all this? (ive looked thru mentler's thread and its brilliant and helps me lots, but doesnt really have the detailed specifics, like bridgeman's books as well)

Thanks guys

Most B&Ns with a decently stocked art section will have a copy of Peck. Medical anatomy texts like the link in the first post are overkill for most artists, especially beginners.

The Netter book is beautiful. But, it's more about guts, nerves, organs, and really close-up, detailed views of muscle and bone.

For your needs, Robert Beverly Hale's translation of Richer's Artistic Anatomy would be ideal. Richer literally starts with the "bare bones" and builds up from all the teeny tiny deep muscles, showing origins and insertions in painstaking detail.

Peck's Atlas is quite good as well, but Hale/Richer really really lays everything out in elaborate detail.

Hell! Get both Richer AND Peck!

And, get everything edited/produced by Robert Beverly Hale and study 'til your eyes hurt!

These two books might suit your needs. (Links are to my blog with few more pictures)

Classic Human Anatomy: The Artist's Guide to Form, Function, and Movement (http://parkablogs.com/content/book-review-classic-human-anatomy-artists-guide-form-function-and-movement)
This book has the bones, muscles (in layers and whole) and good writeup on the function of muscles. It includes where they are attached on the bones also.

For muscles, it only talks about those that affect form.

Human Anatomy for Artists (http://parkablogs.com/content/book-review-human-anatomy-artists) by Andras Szunyoghy and Gyorgy Feher
This book also has the bones, muscles (in layers and whole). There are more illustrations here, huge and detailed. It also shows where the muscles are attached.

There's not much writeup on the functions of the muscles.

its by the guy in the second youtube video posted by teohyc and some doctor. He illustrates pretty much everything in that book, from bones to fat deposits, and the movement possibilities of the human body. And it looks like according to amazon I payed way to much :(. Great...

No idea if it exists in english. Although I speak german it doesn't really matter. The few usefull articles are accompanied by clear diagrams. Go for the one Kamber suggested, after looking through the pages (archived on the internet in french: http://visualiseur.bnf.fr/Visualiseur?Destination=Gallica&O=NUMM-205846) it is almost the same as Menschliche Anatomie.
