Not feeling like typing paragraphs at the moment... so here are some links. :)

Start practicing basic shapes first. Cubes, circles, elipses, cilinders, spheres. Read up upon perspective. Download the "succesful drawing" book from the second link. It's got a good primer on basic shapes and perspective.

what helped me most are the villpu anatomy videos. They're a little pricy but you get to learn the anatomy very well along with the tools and techniques to visualize it and draw it from various angles.

Lifedrawing is also essential. But i'd recommend studying the bones n muscles before attending it, if you have to pay for it.

For a beginner I would say to draw what interests you. Look through National geo, fashion photos, etc, for interesting photos of people. Look at their clothing, tattoos, jewelry, notice how people wear their cloths, their posture. Just spend time noticing stuff, and be aware of your emotions: this guy looks tough, this chick is hot, this guy looks like a coward... then try to get your pictures to match the photo, but also your emotion. Don't spend a lot of time rendering. Don't simultaeously work on anatomy and "basic forms", concentrate on what you see an feel not on what you remember from diagrams. Each new drawing should be a new discovery and require a new invention.

I'm curious, but what method does Vilppu use to construct his anatomy drawings and figures? All based on gesture drawing?
I think that's what it is, but just wanna confirm. :)
