Hi all.
It is my second attempt to create thread.
All works are made with Google Sketchup.
I do not use foreign plugins, only standard tools and V-ray render (not for all).

Really great work! Man, I need to delve into Sketch Up a lot more. I know it's capable of amazing things, but I find that I'm always running into problems where I get halfway done and find that to do what I want to do next would have been much easier if I had started differently. At least with the knowledge I have at the moment. I'm sure for the people that know it in and out it's extremely flexible.

Not long time ago I've installed Vray plugin and I've got few questions to you regarding this renderer:
1). Does Vray come only in plugin form? There isn't a standalone version that could launch itself, like Kerkythea? I'm wondering if I wanted to render models from various 3D modellers, would I have to buy few plugins? Or perhaps to use converters?
2). I see the Vray plugin GUI is different depending what 3D software you're using. But are there any differences when it comes to rendering/material options and rendering performance?
3). I think it's a common problem, but I couldn't finish right solution. When I apply 50% reflection layer to material, in render I can see the ugly white dots/blotches in highlight areas. I've tried with Subpixel mapping (or something) and it helped a little, but not entirely. Do you have any ideas how to solve it?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately I not so well in Vray.
I`m just painter.
I have simply downloaded and installed it.
It is better to you to look answers to an official site.

I second that Davi! I've always been turned off by the the whole 3D movement especially when it comes to car design, but these are such a throw back to the old school that I'll never look at the genre the same again. Gotta look into this sketchup.......

Are you using a form of Scott Robertson's drawthrough technique for your designs? It almost looks like you've adapted his way of doing it by hand to your SketchUp modeling techniques.

I've always just used Sketchup for architectural purposes and had never thought of it for modeling vehicles. Really amazing stuff you have here. I'll have to try some of this stuff when I have some free time.
I'm not sure if it has been asked already (only skimmed through thread and will read over with more time later) but what do you use for lighting for the v-ray rendering? Do you position lights or do you use an hdri map of some sort to get those cool looking reflections?

I saw some of your designs when somebody at google sketchup office in Boulder Colorado showed them to me last year when I was visiting! Since then I had never been able to find them and then I stumbled into this post. I have to say its some amazing work and keep it up its beautiful to look at! I dont know how you get such organic shapes without using any plugins however? you should keep your eye out for one called subdivide and smooth 2 coming out some time this year will really help organic modeling.

For the black old "rocket" car. You used the basis of a red with white car you'd made years ago ?
The roof of the red one was better, but the front of the black really kick a.. ! Very nice mix of old and new style
How do you do to re-use a model ? you cut the part you don't want to keep and restart from that points or do you modify directly the model by wires and points of connection ?

Hello there, saw some of your art a while back, lost the link soon after and have been looking ever since lol. I absolutely love the work you have done but in particular the way you manage to do the whole coloring side of things. Please share how on earth you manage to do this, I am very new to this whole 3 d, sketchup scene but it has now opened doors in my interest in doing art as a hobby.
The whole retro but modern theme is something I am really interested in and your art gives me the kick in the pants to keep trying, I just joined today so please check my art out if you like - not in the same league as you but we have to have dreams dont we ? lol, ok I will leave you alone now, please keep doing what you do, and please if time permits one day, how on earth do you get so much colour and warmth into those pictures, cheers for now

xlrlxi - let me tell you I am blown away by what you are doing here. You just about stopped my heart. The retro future nod, the water color appearence.
More than that, it is the clarity of design. Much of the Sketch-up stuff I see is very busy, like the Transformer designs in the movies.
I shared this with some fellow illustrators like Greg Manchess, Stephan Martinere and Tony DiTerlizzi and we are all very impressed.
Can you give me an idea of how long one of these takes you? I am just now messing with Sketch-up to import into some of my illustration work, and it is slow process for me at the moment. I'd love to know long it takes a master of the craft like you to accomplish one of these things.
Thanks, Scott Fischer

If hollywood hasn't snapped you up, they should.
I have seen a lot of Sketch-up art this week. You are my favorite.
Question, in the first 21 seconds of your car tutorial you form the fuselage of your design. How? Did you select your long side shape/roofline (on the green axis), and then use the follow me tool to follow the front curve you set up on the red axis?
Also when it comes to the fenders, are you using the 'round corner' plug-in?
