Great stuff! Particularly like the mixed render technique of the first one. It would be lovely to see the confidence of line you display in the hand drawing come through in the second one? Some thick gestural lines would give a nice kick to its dymanism.

yeah it would definitely however that was a rough sketch for a comic my friends are coming up with however could you elaborate on the "thick gestural lines"?

Good start - you are on your way!

Something to try might be to build your entire painting at the same time - stay zoomed out and don't get too focused on one spot. Paint in the silhouette, define the volume with a slightly brighter value and just keep adding lights and darks while moving all over your image until you are done.

Also - everyone does this - the round brush is a bit fuzzy. Try as a default painting brush Opacity (set to brush pressure) 100%, Flow 50%, Firmness 90%. If I am lazy and want to use one brush I just use this one.

I am finishing one or two 3d art projects at the minute but when I finish them I will be getting back into concept art. I love it more than anything.

Keep drawing, then when your done draw some more haha. You should check out Andrew Loomis how to draw books they are awesome! Keep it up. I should be updating my sketchbook regularly also.

Hi there!

Really like your start - you think about composition and dynamics, it seems, and that is almost as important as the technique, in my opinion. No good drawing only upright dummies that couldn't lift their own leg, let alone be action heroes.

Just keep practicing, at this point, and experiment with looser painting techniques, to make it quicker and more expressive to capture your ideas.

That bataman painting is pretty great! For the graphite ones before it though, I highly recommend not smudging! The shadows may look really soft and gradual, but you learn a lot more by making a value scale and shading along the planes kinda like this: http://what-i-do-is-secret.deviantart.com/art/Face-shading-basic-planes-70223871 Except with more values.
