IgnusDei, nice work!
maybe the glow around the planet is a little too white.. giving it a darker hue would make it look further away

i like how the ship comes out of that clouds... very nicely done!
I don't know HomeWorld, is the design from that game or did you design it? top or side view?

keep up the good work!

Amazing, although a light spattering of stars, toned down cause of the cloud would really help the mood. Did you do the concept art for homeworld? Besids the obvious ship ref(mothership in background) Your style and coloring is very similar, great stuff:)

Cool stuff.

If you like that sort of spaceship design you should look for books by Stewart Cowley. You might also look for books by Steven Caldwell. I think those two guys are where the Homeworld crew looked for their inspiration.

The books are unfortunately all out of print though. You will have to search through used book stores and e-bay to find them. There are about 9 in all (5 by Caldwell, 4 by Cowley).
There is a 5th Cowley book but it's just a conglomeration of some of the other ones.

I would get the Cowley books first. They have better art, IMO and the bindings on the books are much better. The bindings on the Caldwell books tends to fall apart in my experience.

Good hunting. Here are the titles:

Stewart Cowley:

Great Space Battles - ISBN: 0-89009-260-5
Spacewreck - ISBN: 0-89673-022-0
Starliners - ISBN: 0-600-35357-5
Spacecraft 2000 to 2100AD - ISBN: 0-89009-211-7

Steven Caldwell:

Space Patrol - ISBN: 0-517-29228-9
Settlers in Space - ISBN: 0-517-310163
Star Quest - ISBN: 0-517-29224-6
Aliens in Space - ISBN: 0-517-29223-8 (no space ships)
The Fantastic Planet - ISBN: 0-517-29225-4 (no space ships)

Nice ship design, but u need to blend in the smaller spaceships (the blue ones) to make them look farther away. use opacity of something.
