Okay, I know you are all are gonna think "What's this newbie kid doing asking a retarded question like this!?" well, I need to know.
See, I've been working on my coloring alot lately and to be truthful, it's not working out. All my art turns out to be looking like the old Bugs Bunny cartoons where there are no transitions of light effects on the character or anything. But my huge problem is getting the right colors for shaded areas like in folds of clothing or places of that sort. And also, my characters always turn out in some weird orange or crazy yellow colors. I always seem to have problems like these! But please I reeeeaaally need advice on shade coloring on clothing.
Please help me out here, I'm really in some serious need. In school we have to do sketches and we get better grades if their colored good....needless to say, my aren't colored at all! So help a student out! Hehe.:D

Use the same color you have on the clothing, only a darker variation of it. If you have orange clothing, use a darker orange for the shaded areas and an even darker orange for the deeply shaded areas. The same with highlights, use a lighter color than the main color of your clothing to highlight areas. This applies to all coloring including skin tones.

Just one basic note: when you select a darker shade, select it (in most cases) as illustrated here under..
As for the skin color, gave you an example too ;)

Good one Drumwhore, thanks. It's kind of hard to explain how to do some of this in words. But you've brought up a chart. Lol, don't know how you guys do that. Bring up a chart out of painter or photoshop that is.:)
