update drivers? increase your virtual memory? close photoshop and open it again?

When a program like photoshop is written the program code basicaly says when button is down and mouse is moving draw a line between each recorded point. Unfourtuneatly activating pixel by pixel is just too slow and leave gaps. Basicaly the excess of lines when drawing fast just means its using as much power to keep up with the functions as possible. Concider each time the mouse moves 1px it starts trying to run the draw script, but it has to remember which brush/colour, and everything else, it adds up real quick.
If you feel that it should be keeping up, then try opening system resources by shutting everything unnecissary down, and going from there(i.e. if you can draw much smoother with your mouse at the same speed would be a good test).
Good luck, I hope you get it figured out.

Dont know if you want to spend the money, but Photoshop CS has a smoothing function that solves this rather well. It eats up my system, so I dont use it when coloring. But for laying out line art and things that must be perfect I use it. Works well!

i get this from time to time too. slow down and use softer brushes. try using shorter brush strokes.
