Hey folks. Been through the photocopy/redraw/render process and taken a wild stab at the fur. Let me know what you think. All done in graphite. Levels rebalanced in photoshop.

More sketching on the train. Working on a lion-like biped but kinda stuck on how best to render short fur in graphite.

This is the rough so far:

And a quick marker sketch - again done on the train from September last year:

Any comments/crits or help with the fur thing very much appreciated!

Cheers!

If you dont wash your hair for a few months and let it grow out thats a pretty good description of fur on an animal

i like how that lion's turning out. my best advice on short fur would be short light strokes, slowly building it up. but then, whenever i try to do it i loose my patients and just rough it in quickly with the side of my pencil which also looks nice. i'd say just play around with it till your happy. if you draw lightly, there's always gummy erasers! (i pretty much live off erasers when i draw). hope it turns out to your liking. post up the finished version so i can see how you did ^_^

I would recommend checking out pictures of faramir from lotr. I think his hairstyle would fit if you modify a bit.
