something very interesting happened to me today, I was recogonized! by a concept art .org member who I met tonight at my monday figure drawing class. He stared at me for a long time then finally asked if "I was who he thought I was"?. It was the highlight of my evening and this portrait is for Logan. thank you.

really nice lighting. that's got to be a good thing eh? i mean being recognized exclusively from your paintings alone and all.

very cool story man. great lighting too, its almost setup to make you look menacing, but theres a definate passivness, or softness to it. i hope i got that though across ok...

Aw shucks :p
I noticed you lived in Austin, and I always wondered if I'd bump into you somewhere. Wish my work today was better though (not that it's ever that good) I've been really struggling the past few days, and I really needed something like that to pick me up, so I should thank you.
heh, I wanted to say something clever nonchalantly while we were setting up the easels, but I can never be witty like that.
Really like the color and shadows by the way. The expression too. Ah, I like the whole thing :D

Geez, I think one of the nicest things about this one is that you knew right when you needed to stop.
i.e. it's not too overworked so it maintains its livelyness.
What's your blending tool of choice if I may ask?

thanks everyone!.
hanajima, you are too modest, I was looking over your shoulder last night and You have a great deal of raw talent that you will be able to develop and concentrate on while in art school. hope to see you there next week, I would like to help you with your gestures.
Groovin, I actually spent a long time on an overdeveloped version of this, I dident want to give up on it but afer a while it was obvious that it had overworked all the life out of it, I reopened the first saved sketch version and liked it so much better I decided to post it. I see now that I made the right decision, thanks for noticing. Its important for artists to trust thier first instincts, they are always the best.
I like the just add water, the grainy water, brushes for blending

cool portrait, mr. jones. looks a bit like painter's oil pastels, right?
also, your behaviour is cool. if every star in the concept/drawing scene was like that...
i'm off packing my stuff and heading for austin :)

Andriod, I totally love this one. Reminds me of one of my favourite painters, Helene Schjerfbeck. Are you familiar with her work? I have no idea if she is known at all outside of europe (or even outside the nordic countries). I think you would like her stuff, unfortunatly it's hard to find on the internet (but I got a few scans on my hd).
