portrait help

I started this portrait of my friend and was wondering what should be done with it? How are my values? I just think there's something I should do, but I don't know what. C&C please!!

I'm no expert, but...

Before you worry about values, you should make sure the structure is solid.

It looks a little skewed right now. Trying flipping it horizontal.. making a mirror image. You'll see it in a new way.

If you haven't seen them already, you might want to check out the two head tutorials by fredflickstone in the tutorials section. They're pretty good.
