well
got my wacom a few days ago... so I wanted to do some characters with it.
I drew it with pencils, inked it up and scanned it into streamline.
I have filled the inked drawing with gradiants and then worked with brush/ dodge and burn. Im pretty happy with it myself its been fun to draw again... ( I have worked with 3D for 4 years ) I have inked another one which im working on now. But for now I would like some C & C on this before i finish it :-)
I dont like the guns... id like them to be more reflective.
well here he is. :D

i'd say avoid using dodge and burn for shading, it tends to give a horrid blotchy effect, you would be better to just use a hard brush and paint on a layer above your line art. set the layer to 'multiply', block in the main colours then work in detail with picked colour, then blend using the colour picker (Alt key in photoshop).
hope this helps

btw. my name on here has nothing to do with the monty python film..... just so you know :-p

good work, the hat looks like it might be at the wrong angle, but otherwise good:)

This is an extremely flat image, both the pose and the 'lighting' are creating this.
Perhaps a few more thumbnail prelim sketches and a indication of a more obvious light source would have helped.
Perhaps with your work in 3D, you could have roughly posed a suitable model and played with lighting etc. This could have been used as a good starting reference for the image.
Just keep drawing.
YES - I agree with Ni*, lay off the dodge and burn and use more colours (perhaps even create a 'palette' layer of the most used ones). The dodge and burn seems to be flattening the image and not adding volume.

Thanx for critique :-)
these are as said my first feeble attempts on creating digital drawings.
@SEVANS
I agree with the fact that theres no motivated lightning. the lightsource is not placeable in 3D space. Good idea with the posing thing in 3D. Though I should be better with poses and lighting when i get in training again.
@Swift
thanx hon. yeah... the hat is wierd looking
@Ni*
I will try doing that. i have worked the way you recommend but lets see
I did this while the C & C came in
I know the porportions are a bit wierd. and i have beaten myself for not adding perspective to the shoes! idiot Bo!!!! *hits myself some more* auch.... ah well
learn more doing 10 then using the same time doing 1... imo... enough here it is... its that yakuza gangster guy again.
