I was working on a concept for a dragon harness which I got bored of and never even came close to finishing. [IMG

Aaaahhh....another pic from ironfinger...it's a pity that you didn't enter the thunderdome, but what was the reason...as i remember your creatures looked quite finished and i liked them very much?...maybe next time.

To your dragon:
Maybe it isn't finished in the understanding of a rendered piece, but it looks quite finished in a different way...i like the mix of rendered parts and just lineart-parts

Thanks fozzy.

There were things I wanted to do to the creatures that I never had time to. I also had ideas of improving the initial concepts. I got wrapped up in a hectic schedule and missed the deadline. Maybe next thunderdome.

I like how your T-dome concepts turned out BTW.

Hehe, I'm gonna be the weird one and toss out a few crits XD

Anyway, it's a neat idea, I like the general saddle design, but the rider's posture probably isn't the best (leaned forward, legs back), and the arms up in the air and the reins long leaves a lot of slack and therefore slowed response time (it also limits how much pull the rider can give, since the arms are already extended).

A better way would be to have the arms down with the hands in front, the closer the hands are to the mouth the faster the response time. With the legs back and toes down farther than the heels, the rider has no leverage with the legs, and therefore poor balance. Since their wouldn't be weight on the balls of the feet, the stirrups straps wouldn't be tight and straight, causing the leg to move about; contributing to that is the fact you've got the stirrup strap going behind the leg.

Eh, if you can you might do a bit of looking around for pictures of reining horses doing sliding stops and spins and such, look at how the rider is positioned- he has to keep himself from flying off the saddle when he tells that horse to stop or turn. The horse will be moving somewhere else but momentum will still be carrying the rider forward in whichever direction the horse was originally moving. Even though your picture has a made up flying dragon thing, it'd still be the same principle :)

Can you tell I ride horses? XD

Ugh, that got way longer than I intended!

I agree about the composition. Superb. The perspective is what I really enjoy in this pic. I also dig the muted palette. I wonder if you could get more oomph out the sweeping skyscape if you made your canvas a little taller or chop of some of the bottom and added it to the top. I think it could benefit from that.
Bravo!:p
