Hi Guys - wanted to know if concept designs are legitimate here as well! I hope so. The following is a volunteer project that I'm doing for a non-profit organization, and I used all public domain stock photos and authorized pictures (theres only 2)
I'm looking for help with overall poster layouts, sizes, content placement. I've "thrown" together something that I had envisioned early on, but haven't come up with something I'm sold on yet.
Here's what I have so far...

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice

the offset rectangles with the white boarder bothers me. Maybe because only 1 is offset and the white is only used in that one place!?!

Nice work on the background graphic, it makes the text pop out. Unfortunately, thats where I lose interest. You might want to pick a font slightly more unique than Times, and fiddle with the placement to make the text boxes more centered.

Whoops, forgot to mention...please edit the last box! This doesnt look at all like a poster casual enough to use " walkin' " or "we're thinking" or missed capitalization.

I agree with Al Ian about the offset rectangles. Because one rectangle is off set and the others aren't, this is unbalanced. Try offseting the bottom rectangle to the right abit to balance out the page.
PLUS- Turbosity is correct about the text.

i'd say dump the boxes they are too confining.
since there seems to be a great abundance of text on this poster, it would be a good idea to use a couple of really nice typefaces. go with a strong sans-serif typeface set large, so they stand out in the hierarchy, for the title and headings then you can use a nice serif typeface for the body text (sugest: garamond, or minion, or baskerville).
hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggstions everyone. here's an update. Szyslack, not sure why but I never was notified of your comment, or I woul dhave tried to incorporate it. The good news I did dump the boxes :D
Sevans and Al Ian - I took your advice, but the boxes started to hurt my eyes. I went to a 1 interior box design, and then scrapped it altogether. The 1 box wasn't bad looking, I just thought I could do more with large amounts of text using a no box, column format.
Still would love a lot of feedback on the text. I tried to make it more consistent but did a poor job of incorporating the suggestions. I'm sorry!!!
Keep in mind this poster wil probably be 13.5x17, so the smaller texts will/should be legible.
Again, strengths, weaknesses, room for improvements, etc.
Thanks!

The far right one sticks out the most as the one I would like to read!
