Haven't been drawing since God knows when, so here's to the start of a major learning/re-learning experience!

1 hour 15 min speedpaint of Mila Jovovich as Alice. Learned a lot about shading of and around the nose and of backlighting hair on this one.

EDIT 9-3-2009:
I painted this on my netbook without realizing the distortion it gave the tones until I saw it on my desktop. I quickly adjusted it with curves and gave it a bit of a different feel with the contrast:

I like the colors on the first one and you've really captured the expression and colors on the Mila Jovovich one. Keep posting!

Baby Rhino-So ugly, it's cute.

I really can't decide if I like the color or the black and white better.

2 hour speedpaint, if that's considered a speedpaint..
I really enjoyed working the hell out of the texture on this one.

Didn't keep track this time.. two hours, I think?

This is my first study of any kind of background or environment, so there was plenty to learn from (the original picture was completely orange in tone, so I took a chance to make the shadows purple-y)

I feel like it needs another color mixed in to give it some more life, but I can't figure out what to mix in.

A "straw fight" between friends. Learned a lot about abbreviating hair thickness by mixing colors rather than painting individual strands.
