I can't really make out whats happening in the piece. Too much smudging?

Is it too dark in the lower area?
Sometimes i have these problems with my Images.
I don't get the right setup for my screen.

it is a little dark. Also, the smudging seems to detract from the composition rather than giving it depth.

The colors in the outlined ship-area should be very pure to set it off

Aren't they?

I just cant make out the form of the ship. I mean...yes, you told me what it is....so I can envision it. But, if I was unaware...I would be truly...unaware. :)

I.. honestly cant see the point of the yellow area. it draws all attention that way and also blinds us, so the dark area goes SUPERDark!

The spaceship has a nice rusty look to it though, and the space has a sweet deep blue feel! You should try and get the eye to catch that region a whole lot more.. add highlights perhaps?

That may be the reason I cant make anything out of it when trying to view objectively.

First, cool ship from what i can see.
but...
I think you should drop the yellow part and lighten the area around the ship. It would be a lot easier to see the ship if you even just made the background behind the ship the same color as the dark blue off to the left.

I think that would give it a kind of cool eerie feel also.

but then what do i know?
